people who get shot are not likely shot by responsible gun owners - unless they're criminals themselves.

the rate of police officers convicted of crimes is 23 times higher than the rate of CCW owners.

again, your own paranoia and fear are your problem, not anyone else's. perhaps this is something you and your Doctor can discuss at your next visit.

Secondly, I don't care if you or anyone else trusts me with my gun. My state trusts me enough to issue me a carry permit, so that's all I care about.
That's the bottom line.

Why shouldn't you trust someone with a gun?

If they are carrying concealed, all is well. If someone produces a gun into plain view, for no good apparent reason, now there's an immediate "trust issue".

Pretty simple, no?

To the OP...

You have truly done a lousy - and I mean gloriously pitiful - job of defending your position with your replies. You have hand-picked about 10% of the posts that have, at best, a marginal line or two that you could respond to and attack, but you have absolutely and completely ignored the other 90% of the posts that put you in your place and answers your questions with perfection. You have made, what? One comment back about the comparison with your question and its analogy of automobiles - and even that reply was wonderfully weak.

No one gets my trust. NO ONE... until they've earned it. And topic matters not, whether its guns, autos, pharmaceuticals, civil engineers, etc.

But that doesn't mean that I exist in a completely opaque cloud of paranoia 24/7, in which I'm constantly scared of the people around me. I simply pull my head out of my ass, and practice simple situational awareness when I'm in situations that have potential to go wrong. Just like most people with common sense and the basic ability to think rationally and forward.

Sorry, but if your OP has some esoteric point, you've missed it badly.

Many places, open carry is legal. It is in my state, but I seldom do it.

Because I have yet been given a reason not to trust law abiding citizens.

Have you been to shooting ranges very often? If so, how many times have you seen an angry person there start shooting people?

Have you ever been on a hunting trip? Towards the end of many hunting trips, hunters tend to gather around the fire and do some drinking. Have you ever witnessed them getting into gun fights?

I'm beginning to question how much gun or hunting experience you have.

Then lock yourself in your house and live like a hermit.

I carry a weapon, so I don't worry too much about those things... I am able to defend myself should the need arise.

How about you?
