I'm assuming our passenger cars are next? What our limit going to be? Hopefully its 68 or more so we can at least still pass trucks.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is proposing to mechanically limit the speed of buses and semis over 26,000 pounds to under 68 miles per hour. The idea focuses on safety concerns but also would improve fuel efficiency.

Absolutely not! Too many places have 70+ speed limits and it's speed differential that causes collisions, not see alone.

It doesn't matter- it's just another law that won't be enforced. How often do we see trucks pulled over by police- very rarely.

All this would be is more government control of another aspect of our lives.

Retaliatory force is the only just form of force. "Regulations" and presumption of guilt (or liability) "crimes" before the fact are abominations. "Speeding" in and of itself, until an accident actually occurs, is a fictional "crime".

All actual crimes, initiations of force, are committed by those who breathe. We could "regulate" and "fight" these future crimes by making breathing illegal.

Don't you think driving 80 MPH on any public road is more stupid?

I should have made it more clear in the headline, but in the story it says MECHANICALLY regulated, meaning it would be physically impossible to go over 68MPH.

I don't. Take any major highway at off hours, if people drive safely and respect the left lane laws it makes a big difference.
