so... do I think driving 80 is stupid? studies show that it is more stupid for people to drive what we call "the speed limit" in the left hand lane.

in fact multiple states from all regions of the country have started enforcing left lane for faster traffic because it is more dangerous for slower traffic in the left lane than it is people going really fast...

All this. Studies show that the biggest factor in accidents is not how fast the traffic is going, but the presence of large variability in speeds. In other words, this legislation would make highways less safe not more.

Truck and bus engines have had governors for many decades. They are set (or not) by the vehicle owners.

Many of the big trucking companies govern their trucks at 62 mph. They apparently believe that the severity of accidents increases with vehicle speed. I agree.

Then all roads must be 4 lanes, so the trucks and buses do not impead the flow of traffic.

thanks for saying that.... better than I did.

This is an act of government regulation that makes us less safe.

The point of this proposal is that the trucks/buses would be mechanically unable to go faster than 68.

I agree that far too few truckers are pulled over, for whatever reason. This proposal would take police discretion out of the picture.

If they apply to to trucks then they also need to apply it to cars with a max possible speed of 75

Trucks aren't the problem, it's all the other people on the road. I just returned from a trip to GA and back (to IA) and can honestly say the truckers are the only ones that consistently follow the laws.

Texas would fly the middle finger at that.

So a limiter really wouldn't matter to them at all.......

In all honesty I think this is a unwise use of government time and effort. I just dont see the evidence that says this needs to be done. There are more important things going on.
