We should create the right conditions for new migrants to fully integrate into their new neighborhoods, providing clear advice on our values and expectations,” he said.
I don't see a problem with what he said.

May as well be.

Interesting article. I see the Mayor's points differently. People of European background brought their cultures with them and the melding of their cultures created much of what is known as American culture. They didn't abandon their cultures overall.

Certain other groups were not afforded the same opportunity to naturally integrate into American society. Clearly, Africans brought over came from over 40 different ethnic groups but slaveholders purposely beat their cultures out of them. Native Americans were largely killed out and so their people were unable to affect American culture in the same way as Europeans.

Today, most people are going the same route as Europeans who came over, enriching American culture with their own and gradually melding into society.

What the Mayor is saying is to hand over your country to people who hate it but like the benefits.

If you move to Bora Bora are you supposed to don a Grass Skirt, a ceremonial tattoo and learn to Hula Dance? Will you give up Christianity and watching football or baseball ? Will you start eating fermented taro root ?

No you wouldn't/shouldn't - and that is what the mayor means.

You can say Amen to that. Taking you a Muslim into your country is like taking a rabid dog into your home. These people are not even human in my book.

No one thought that except you folks with the false narratives. It is to respect the culture of the country you reside. To be successful unless you will wall yourself off in an expat community you do need to assimilate at certain levels. How much spoon feeding do you two need that I have to enumerate them to you?
