The thread is on Obamacare. There is currently no payroll tax like they have in countries that have UHC, which is exactly what I stated: a new payroll tax and an increase in the current Medicare tax.
You stated we have no payroll tax.
We do have payroll taxes, and they predate obamacare by decades.
You also don't seem to grasp that payroll taxes are not required to fund single payer healthcare.
You guys realize that the chairman of HHS has nothing to do with legislation? Medicare isn't going to be privatized. Like Social Security it's a great talking point for the right, but it's political suicide to even get serious about it. Last time Ryan tried to bring it up it was so popular that Republicans were canceling town halls to avoid the people coming there yelling at them over it. What will happen is what always happens. It will get discussed seriously. The AARP will get wind of it and mobilize scores of ads. Old people will see the ads and light up the Congressman's phones like Christmas trees. The idea will shelved to a later date which will never happen.

Yes, we all realize that nobody can touch Medicare because after liberals bribed seniors with it, it has forever served its purpose, which is to ensure that Democrats always remain in power. I mean, seriously, you're acting like nobody has ever figured this out ever before.
Price’s plan would offer less protection for people with pre-existing conditions — individuals would need to maintain continuous insurance coverage, or risk running into problems getting covered.
What that does is opens a window to deny coverage for pre-existing conditions.
Insurance companies have in the past and will likely do again, is open that window wide enough to drive a truck through it.
They will discover financial incentive to deny coverage.
Thus they will find ways to deny coverage.
Change jobs much?
Loose your coverage for any medical condition you had in the past that your current health ins underwriters can remotely and imaginatively connect it to.
Excellent. Covering stuff that happened by buying insurance LATER is not what insurance should be.
The idea is actually a version of the mandate cleaned up for public consumption. If you get insurance during a one time giant open enrollment or at a life event (turning 26) you can move from plan to plan with out any issues with conditions or health. If you drop out instead of punishing you with a tax we will instead hit you with no insurance subsidies for life and no exemptions from pre existing conditions. Basically if you want affordable health insurance later you have to buy it now. Same rule different stick.
I remember reading this back in 2008 He really did back a public plan it's the main reason I backed him.
“We now face an opportunity — and an obligation — to turn the page on the failed politics of yesterday's health care debates… My plan begins by covering every American. If you already have health insurance, the only thing that will change for you under this plan is the amount of money you will spend on premiums. That will be less. If you are one of the 45 million Americans who don't have health insurance, you will have it after this plan becomes law. No one will be turned away because of a preexisting condition or illness.”
Total lie. None of that happened. Him lying and saying that all will be covered is not what we are talking about.
