We are a very unique culture, or lack of. We take over in the name of civility. This is how we started, and it's still continuing today. It might be the Christian propaganda, but we implement our values and our version of democracy and call it a success.

There is no real way to describe Americans intentions without the use of greed and strength which are the backbone of capitalism. One drives us and the other keeps us going.

We have a spotty bit of socialist programs but our government is mainly economic. Americans born and raised learn quickly the strong survive and the weak get stepped on. Those coming as immigrants from socially based governments might be stunned a bit. Those coming from the constraints of communist governments might be stunned a bit. We have the freedom to thrive and the freedom to destroy or fail. We have a lot of control.

I'd say what a true American possesses is the will to avoid destruction. We don't share, we pay. We might give or get, but we don't share. This creates a unique mindset that only Americans have. It's not good or bad, it just is.

Car shows, used to go to them but unless they were held at the valley where you could open up the taps on the 1/4 mile strip. Otherwise it got boring quick. Unless there was something incredible like a 392 hemi or nail head sporting tripple offys and zoomies stuffed in a model A.

No car? I'd die. Especially if it snowed. No slinging the truck around and ripping donuts!? Having to rely on a bus or taxi nah...

Sporting events if you like overpriced drinks and food... Id rather call up my buddies and have a backyard football game. Cant stand watching sports but I sure do love playing tackle football. Watching and attending not my cup of tea personally. Hate sports bars especially.

BINGO-- this is what you like, maybe not what- I like-- we are free to do what we each like, yes? The fact that we can do it in our country and accept the VAST differences even from north to south etc. That is what makes us very unique. How many kinds of BBQ sauce can there be?? Yea as many as we darn well please. that is our main identity... we are FREE.
There is this new wave of control freaks trying to make us all the same- NEVER happen-- so stop trying

No they dont...now sing with me,

God bless America,
land that I love

Stand beside her and guide her

Through the night with the light from above

From the mountains to the prairies

To the oceans white with foam

God bless America, my home sweet home

From the mountains to the prairies

To the oceans white with foam

God bless America, my home sweet home

God bless America, my home sweet home

Now let's hug Pullmyfinger.😉

Ah, there lies the rub. Just because it doesn't appeal to you doesn't mean it doesn't appeal to anyone. You can't just list things to do, and then when other things to do are presented, dismiss those for all 300 million people in America because you don't like them.

Then take a streetcar, subway, uber, commuter rail, carpool, bike, sidewalk, or whatever it is that city offers.

And do donuts in a parking lot, like I always have.

I enjoy taking pride in a local team and experiencing them with friends. Yes the food is overpriced, but its secondary to watching your favorite player crush a home run into right field and cheering with your also slightly inebriated friends. And playing sports is always fun, but you can do that in a city park or a farm field.

With all due respect, it seems you are lacking imagination to see beyond what you have seen in person.

LOL, thru the years my friends and I have ridden everything from 250's to 500 two strokes, 525 4 strokes, 190hp snowmobiles etc... and the one thing we all agree on is to stay away from those little 50cc ones... we have seen many people that know how to ride, end up getting hurt on those.

Okay, got it.

Do you actually think that these women enjoy being treated that way? I'm offended because I know they don't. They are victims of a barbaric religion and there is no place in this country for religions that don't practice freedom and equality.

What I actually don't like are artificial nations, only held together through propaganda and force. America of today would disintegrate overnight without the heavy-hand of government.

You have to understand, when I first came to this forum, I was a liberal. Some of my earliest posts on this forum were about "happy countries". Which at the time, I mistakenly associated with socialism.

The question of happiness was very important to me at the time because I was very depressed, and had even attempted suicide. I was trying to figure out what would make me happy.

One of the first articles I found about countries and happiness, was this.

ParaPundit: Affluent Homogeneous Small Countries Happiest

Small, homogeneous countries tend to be happier than large/diverse countries. But why?

For the most part, its because there is more agreement, which leads to greater trust, greater cooperation, and lower crime rates, and thus more safety/security.

I hate to sound too coarse, but diversity causes nothing but harm. And I mean all diversity, including income-inequality.

The downside of diversity - The Boston Globe

If you read the article above, all you need to do is imagine a neighborhood that was 100% Mormon, or even 100% Muslim. You would probably see children playing together. Most of the people on the block would probably know each other. They would go to Church together. The kids could probably play outside without much worry(especially if it was gated to keep everyone else out). They might even celebrate holidays together. With all the families coming together together to throw some block festival/parties.

Now imagine you took the Mormons and Muslims and tossed them together on the same block, what would happen? It would be just as the article explains. People would stop interacting with each other. They would begin to hide in this homes, shutting themselves off from the world.

What we've seen in America over the last several decades, is a complete loss of trust in the system, and in each other.

How do you get that back? And can you get it back?

The problem with liberals, is that they have destroyed this country, because they don't know what a country is. And honestly, they don't care, because they don't really believe in countries to begin with. They imagine a world without borders, their glorious diverse utopia.

The problem is, it doesn't work, and it makes us miserable.

My only question is, how much longer can this mess be maintained? And if it begins to crumble, what will they be forced to do to "save" it?

I think the poll and the thread here tells the same story; we are not in agreement with what defines the identity of the U.S. I have never equated US. Identity with "Christian values", but apparently a majority of republicans in this poll did. The comments posted here seem to address hobbies and personal interests, as if one's interest in drinking beer and off road terrain riding is somehow intrinsic to being an American. We are one entitled and narrow minded group.
