Nothing will be done to end this madness. If Cruz had killed a hundred kids, nothing would change. The question is, why is this happening in America. No other first world country would permit this kind carnage to happen to their kids, without doing something drastic about it.

Many Americans keep insisting that guns have made the US a safer place to live, well they obviously have not. Why can young Americans for instance buy an AR-15 when they are 18yrs old, but can't have a beer until they are 21?

We should not be afraid in America, to send our children to school, to shop, to worship, to go to a movie, to go to a casino, a concert, out to dinner, etc. etc., to breathe, in our country. To drive and oh yeah once in awhile make a mistake and cut you off in traffic. Something reasonable needs to be done.

Who are we kidding? There is enough blame to go around for everyone. For letting our lawmakers worship the NRA and do nothing to protect the people they were elected to serve.

What do you think is reasonable to keep people safe in America?????

How do people feel about the new bullet proof back packs: Sales of bulletproof backpacks soar after Florida shooting | Daily Mail Online They could save the lives of our kids; but they could also be used by the assailants. It isn't only that; but I believe the kids would leave them in their lockers while in school.

I just don't know if this is a good idea or bad idea?

Not my rights.
All of our rights.

We can solve this without altering the rights of law abiding. Problem is, there is alot of folks out there that do not want the measures put into place to do it... reason being-those measures are not good feeling and soft/weak.

Lately that's the trend...
Everyone is for that 1st amendment right and freedom of speech until that includes the ugly hateful rhetoric... or curse words in music...
Remember on CDs, cassettes, the Parental Advisory Explicit Content labels that used to be printed on the covers? Censorship of the 1st amendment rights through class warfare-do it for Muh Childrunz!
What is odd about that-I used to buy CDs at 13 14 years old without ID. My parents didn't have any issue or objection to it. Why? I didn't dare swear in front of them... there was a deterrence for foul language... that deterrence was seizure of Movies and CDs along with a lump upside my head.

Did those labels and censorship stop children from swearing cursing and using foul language or telling adult dirty jokes? No. Why? They heard swearing on the school bus, placing high schoolers on the bus with grade school kids to make less trips for the school. They saw that as efficient pack the busses to maximum capacity rather than make multiple trips.
There also was the home influence as well.

Today... how would one be able to censor the internet? YouTube etc? Parents would have to do it themselves.

Now, it's firearms. We must protect Muh Childrunz from guns.
Uh... the guns are not walking in and slaughtering kids...
It disgusts me that these things happen. It really does. So much so that I do not want the ineptitude of government (regardless of WHAT political party holds power) to have anything to do with preventing or having a say in it.

I would much rather see private citizens who are disgusted come together in agreement that yes, something needs to be done. And do it. That something would be to literally stand guard over the campuses. I would volunteer to do it. 1 day a week.

Get a few more to patrol and secure the campuses 2 guards per entry point. Nobody goes in without being wanded and without being checked in.
Not every school has the same amount of pupils. Not every school has the same issues. For example I had cousins that went to school in a city. Fist fights happened daily in those schools. Today there's multiple fist fights daily. Kids whip out the phone and record the fights and upload them to YouTube and Facebook. I find that appalling.

I am no saint. I stood up to bullies when 0 tolerance became policy. Whether the bullies were upperclassmen or not. Didn't matter. Why? 0 tolerance doesn't work. It breeds victims reliant on an adult in the room to handle problems for you. That doesn't work in the real world.

You see this shooters defense attorney attempting to pull the emotional response of "he was ostracized. He's a broken human woe is he"
No. Not woe is he. He was ostracized for being 2 fries short of a happy meal! As more is revealed on this bag of feces, he was an intimidating and threatening individual. Obviously a severe lack in discipline to boot.

Parents need to parent. No cure all pill exists for discipline. Aderall Ritalin Xanax etc will not fix these things. A parent that engages with their kids will. Parents that teach wrong from right with discipline will...
But you throw pills violent videogames and viola recipe for disaster. Add in allowing kids access to the internet to engage in bullying and harassment then coddle them with 0 tolerance and be reliant on a teacher or school admin to fix the issue? No.

Schools exist to educate not discipline. My school lost its focus on education and focused on discipline. And wondered why most of the students were either failing or dropping out...

Hmm. I wonder. Maybe it's due to the fact they were being removed from class with suspension, in or out of school suspension... rather than allowed to duke it out at recess.
I provided the means to curtailing bullies. Most of the bullies in my highschool were on the football team. So was I. If a stern talking to followed with a warning didn't stop it, hitting drills did. And if that didn't work duke it out in the locker room student parking lot did.

That isn't a glorification of violence.
Neither would be having an armed deterrence present at our schools.

You me all of us have to recognize that there is a significant difference in violence and justified lawful defense. You can not equate the two.
One is an engagement in nefarious acts for no legitimate reason.
I'm no shrink... but I do think there's no excuse for this crap whatsoever
I don't care how messed up ones childhood is. There's no excuse for this. Whether mommy and daddy didn't show them enough attention/affection, bullied, ostracized, shunned, made an outcast... no reason nor excuse exists to rationalize or defend this crap!
NONE

I'm upset at how degenerate our society has become. More so with how feeble and weak it has become...

Look in here and other threads. The many posts here are indicative of a legitimate problem-calling for a nanny state. Curtail rights of all to fit an agenda. It will not solve anything. What will? Deterrence.

Others don't have this level of maturity, and think only about what they want without worrying how it affects others. In these cases , the rights of children to remain alive vs the wants of the adolescent gun cult to have their toys.

Good, because it sure sounded like someone made her Queen and she was going to think for everyone, be damned someone else thinks differently.

I know. It takes me less than a day, of just goofing around between posts on C-D and drinking coffee, to make one. I bet if I got into assembly line mode, I could get 3 built daily.

Do we have to remind everyone what Concord and Gonzales were all about?
That never turns out well for tyrants in the end, trying to disarm the unwilling public.

No it does not. Who said anything about prisons or guard towers? What I did say is that a certain minimum percentage of teachers should be trained and carrying. Concealed. If anything, that creates so much safety for the children that you can actually take DOWN some of the security enhancements that might make the school resemble a prison.

I don't care if more guns shouldn't be the answer, but it is. Just drop your fear and loathing of guns and allow them to protect our children in the same way it protects our gold.

Most kids carry their back packs around all day -- or in our school they do. It is a very real possibility because then the kids can try to protect themselves.

Isn't that sad -- we want to arm our kids so they won't get shot or provide them with bullet proof clothing/accessories to protect them.

I don't care why -- I just care that's where the USA is going.

Are we all going to be needing guns to go to the movies, shopping, concerts, etc.
