Liberals would want a president for life if they could get one too. And my goodness... how hard they are trying right now with the push for open borders and amnesty for all. It might not be the same president for life but a never ending chain of two term democratic presidents would be just fine with them.
Of course, they are always more than willing to sacrifice safety, security, and the quality of life for real Americans to make that happen.
My view has always been that in the presence of a power vacuum, power will always begin to concentrate as people seek to exert their will on the world around them, and then as other people resist that - building their own power groups, snowballing and cannibalizing each other until you end up with some form of top level concentrated power (AKA government) that is restricted by something else outside direct social control - be it communication(language) barriers, geographic barriers, cultural barriers, etc... as evidence I present the entirety of human history.
I believe it is just an aspect of our nature as a social species arrived at via evolution. Lone human naked in the woods by himself is not a very impressive animal, get a few hundred together though and....
I tend to agree, but I sure would like to experience liberty for a change, no matter how scary it may be.
Words fail me. I eagerly await the Trump cultists excuses as to why a President for Life is somehow more democratic and just than the current system.
Chinese President Xi Jinping recently consolidated power. Trump told the gathering: “He’s now president for life. President for life. And he’s great.” Trump added, “I think it’s great. Maybe we’ll give that a shot someday.”
I am not sure I think Xi is great, I think maybe to the Chinese, he is great. This said, I don't agree or disagree with the statement. I think as long as the people want somebody, he should be able to serve more than 2 terms.
Like the leftists begging for a third term of Obama
