I know I can get a concert-worthy sound stage to DC and a bunch of A-list actors and singers to show up and even perform with just a couple phone calls. I can bankroll tens of thousands of flights, buses, hotel rooms, free food for hundreds of thousands and make trendy merchandise too, all while planning, organizing, coaching speakers and providing strategically deployed undercover private security.
Piece of cake, sure some high school kids coud do it too.
Then do it..have a counter protest "gun owners united" get a million people to go protest in DC. After all that is your constitutional right and since you seem to have the juice to pull it together you should!
I don't expect my house to burn down, but I carry homeowners insurance, and have fire extinguishers in my home. Do you? I sleep well, and live a very happy life in a very nice neighborhood. But thanks for your concern.
I don't dictate what you can have, so I don't want YOU, or statist/fascist people like you dictating what I can have.
My husband and I own guns but this home defense argument for an AR-15 is BS. A better home defense weapon is a Remington 870

I agree!
The gun owners should rally. Let's see them come out and make their statements loud and clear.
Why doesn't Mr Wayne '4 million dollars' LaPierre organize it?
If the cops with all their technology occasionally get it wrong, is it not possible that those with less access to information might as well?
And if you live next door to drug dealers, its probably time to move. I wouldn't be just sitting their waiting with my gun for someone to come to the wrong house. I would be proactive and get out of that situation fast.
and do you realize the backwards thinking, you and them are doing....?? you start removing/revising/eliminating/restricting rights of the "Bill of rights" your OTHER rights will be infringed
specifically by eliminating/restricting the 2nd amendments...guess what....your 1st, 4th and 5th amendment rights will also be infringed.....
Are you that reactionary to all regulation? If you City changes the speed limit from 40 to 25 does that mean that they are going to ban driving altogether? If a law is passed requiring you to keep your dog on a leash on a city street does that infer that they the next thing they will do is kill all the dogs?
Go Kids, Go! You're standing up for and accomplishing things we adults from previous generations were unable to accomplish. Go vote your conscience! And vote out of office those who were not able to enact laws to protect you and society. You have the full support of those who stand behind you and who will someday VOTE FOR YOU!
It would be nice to see them protesting the wars like we did back in 2003. Something actually worth protesting.
The firearm used in a mass shooting has exactly nothing to do with why a mass shooting takes place. You could take away the AR-15 tomorrow, and the next school shooting will be perpetrated with another firearm. The problem isn't the firearm used, it's the fact that idiots are raising junior psychopaths.
Why is my right to own a firearm trumped by the right of parents to have children that they don't raise to be decent human beings?
Or the mass killer could throw bricks at students...but as long as they are able to do so they choose semi-automatic rifles, usually with high capacity magazines. That's a problem and in spite of all the hand wringing about the real problem being that these people are mentally disturbed, that's true but there's little we can do about that, there is no cure for psychopathy. They will be crazy until they die.
So to mitigate the damage maybe we should require a higher level of vetting for ownership of these guns, or do what some states have done and ban high capacity/removable magazines and at least mitigate the damage.
Yeah, because no one ever wants to steal something that is legal.
All those banks getting robbed for their illegal money.
