I'm not a conservative, but I guess it's easier to lump me in with the conservatives on the issue of gun control than it is to understand that not everyone who believes that we shouldn't be rewriting the Constitution is on the far right of the political spectrum.
Since you believe that I'm being unreasonable, do you truly believe that if the next mass shooting uses a shotgun there won't be calls for a shotgun ban? Historically, this has happened over and over again when mass shootings take place. After Columbine (which did not involve AR-15s) there were calls to ban the TEC-DC9. After the Giffords shooting, there were calls to ban Glocks. It's a never-ending cycle of the anti-gun crowd wanting to worry about the weapons used because that's a whole lot easier than admitting that there is a societal problem in this country which needs to be addressed.
What you are describing is the UK (apart from the fact that the police on the beat in the UK don't even carry guns) and we have more than a 'fighting chance', gun crime is rare here (less than 100 gun deaths every year). A positive Utopia compared to the horrors going on 'over there', join the revolution :-)

I disagree. No one is wanting to take away anyone's rights. What is wrong with common sense gun reform? What is wrong with comprehensive background checks? What is wrong with raising the age of owning of a gun? What is wrong with banning assault weapons? There are many people in the service and law enforcement who agree. The bearing of arms is not being infringed. If you owns guns, keep your guns. It's getting tiresome, the influence the NRA has over the people in this country.
What is wrong with teaching these children the cold hard facts of history? Without the right to own and bear arms these children could very well find themselves facing a leader like Hitler, Pol Pot or Mao Zedong. After they took the citizens weapons away then they slaughtered those that dared to resist. Reality sucks but best to be prepared.

And even if Utopias did exist, the human character would not want, nor tolerate it. We are not wired for Utopia. Yet the Progressives continue to try to enact policy for a 1984 styled existence.
The TSA sexually assaults fliers. The NSA spies on us. Cops have military weapons and are gunning down people by the dozen. The DEA criminalizes people smoking a plant.
Try to go to the store and buy raw milk. Try to make food in your own kitchen and sell it to your neighbors. Try to buy certain drugs without a prescription.
These kids are being played and they're too naive to realize it. Maybe we should try to reach out and educate them, we're certainly not giving them any benefit of adult experience in how the world works. They are too sheltered and coddled and if they're this clueless this generation will fall right into the hands of those who will take advantage of them politically and economically.
No, they weren't being played. You folks are just scared out of your gourd about what they are doing and the only thing you have left to fight them with are baseless accusations that they are naive, or they were scripted or some other nonsense.
This "clueless" generation has accomplished more in a little over a month than anyone else has done in years. States are passing tougher laws including gun violence restraining orders, youtube is banning a large number of videos involving weapons, and a number of stores no longer sell assault style weapons.

GOP and NRA ignore today's youth marches at their own peril. Let's do the math: currently 800k Baby Boomers expire every year. This year 3 million 18-year olds become eligible to vote. The numbers don't lie. Either Congress and Trump deliver gun reform or they get their walking papers.
You're right. The NRA can't afford to pick up people and actually take them to rallies and voting boxes but Hollywood and Socialist billionares can.
