If that were the mandatory minimum (which it isn't, nice strawman by the way 👎💩 ), I would pay it, and get prices where I need to stay in competition. But no one is forcing $50/hr, so your analogy fails

You are paying someone to clean your house. There's no business to run.

You have only three choices:
1. Pay them $50/hour
2. Don't hire them
3. Go to prison

So what would you do?

I doubt anyone needs to increase the price of a Big Mac by such a drastic percentage to pay employees a decent wage because McDonalds already raised food prices to increase employee wages and they still don't sell 15-dollar Big Macs.

No one is forcing $50/hour? Why not? Because it would be crazy?

I'd support $150/hour. Everybody deserves a fabulous life.

Fifty an hour is about the going rate for a decent house cleaner. A bit low, in fact. We have a team of 2 who clean this place for a little more than that an hour, so I'd consider it a savings and hire this person right away.

Who determines what is a decent wage, fair wage, or living wage? What does that mean? Is it the same all over? Is it "fair" if it forces an employer to fire some of the employees to stay in business? Is it "fair" if it forces a business to close as they can no longer be profitable"

What is the purpose of a business to exist, and operate?

But I can't afford that. You may be able to. So I don't deserve to hire a house cleaner even though plenty of them are willing to work for $5/hour?

My parents used to have a maid service come once every two weeks and they would be paid $150 for the two hours they were there, and that was years ago.

Have you ever hired a maid service? I think not based on your analogy
