If you are good with the poor falling further behind under Obama and you believe that is what he ran on, have at it.

This was hashed over for years.

Why is this thread still being discussed? If you read the article, or simply read this post I'm quoting, you can see the conversation is essentially dead. The title of the thread isn't true, because the actual data provided by the article only covered up to 2016, WHEN TRUMP WAS NOT EVEN THE PRESIDENT! That fact alone renders this thread's originally intended discussion dead on arrival. I mean, by all means, keep posting if that's what you want to do. Just know that the premise of the thread is horribly flawed.

The federal poverty level is a weighted average of the poverty levels of the 48 contiguous States (Alaska and Hawaii are outliers).

The claim that there are 41 Million in "poverty" is grossly misleading.

It's possible for someone to be under the federal poverty level, but above the State poverty level, in which case they aren't really in poverty.

They're only in "poverty" when measured against other Americans, but that's totally nonsensical, since the Cost-of-Living varies so dramatically in the US.

Your own government admits this variation:

$23.60/hour - $7.70/hour = $15.90/hour.

Effectively, someone earning $7.70/hour can have the same Standard of Living and Life-Style as someone earning $23.60/hour, because it isn't how much you earn, it's how much your money will buy.

Very obviously, the UN idiots can't comprehend that.

"U.N. expert" is an oxymoron. No need to read past the title of the post.

In what US state is that true ? Maybe we can send all the welfare bums there, can't be too hard to find a job that pays $7.70 an hour.

If I made this connection so quickly, why hasn't anyone else figured it out yet ? We could end all the "free loading" for once and for all.

Trump supporters deserve it though. They voted for it and they are applauding Trump looting the country. Look at the tax plan where 83% of the benefits go to the top 1% of the country including Trump himself.

The Republican tax bill got worse: now the top 1% gets 83% of the gains

More than 83% of QE went to the 1% under Obama also. Hence the U.N.'s numbers.
