The tyranny of the majority problem can only be solved by returning more power to the states.

Time for a little comedy relief:

Most of us have probably seen this one in one incarnation or another; (the early-Sixties version has a great side-gag on the marketing power of "free'" beer).

but the point remains: For all its twists, turns and disappointments, entrepreneurship retains a powerful draw upon the human psyche. And Roman Emperors, French Jacobins and the occasional Stalin (or Hitler, who was no free-marketer) aside, it's seldom a venture in which one puts his/her life at risk.

You can be a "church" and push the religion of Conservatism and you can't be touched like the Spaghetti monster cult. (More likely your church's teachings will line up with the GOP platform perfectly.)

If you have enough money, you could buy off the justice system with shady lawyers and shady judges. Just look at the recent Supreme Court appointment--first time ever that the criminal picks his judge. (Also heard that there was a shady backroom tit-for-tat deal for the Justice seat.)

I'd be willing to take you on that bet. I'd bet there is an insurance company out there that would be happy to take my money on a gamble like that. I'm sure we could gather some members here to pay the policy. You figure out how to buy off the court and you get your money back. You in? You fail to buy off the Supreme Court and you wear a MAGA hat for a year, every day. Deal?

The criminal picks his judge? What exactly has Trump been convicted of? When did it happen? The entire Mueller investigation has been pretty weak thus far. A few charges and convictions for things completely unrelated to the election. Trump hasn't been accused of, or charged with, an actual crime. Just because you decide to call Trump a criminal doesn't make it so. And we also have that little rule of thumb about being innocent until proven guilty, or some such ideal. Wouldn't it be a shame if you were afforded the same "justice" as you want to afford Trump?

If the Mueller investigation turns up something, we go from there. Until then, please stop with the BS about him being a criminal. Hell, you're probably a criminal just as much as anyone else here. So many laws, we could all be convicted of something.

And, before you start calling me the insult of the week, or stupid/racist/sexist/psy-grbber/etc., I don't really care, so save the post. But you really should be embarassed that you seem to crave a legal system that prosecutes someone because you don't like them rather than affords them the opportunity you would, no doubt, demand, in a fair trial.

Added: You "heard" there was a back room deal? You should really be offering this info the media. Surely they would pay a handsome amount of money for that kind of info. Or was it just unnamed sources and people who wish to remain anonymous?

Wouldn't they just love to blame Trump? If you don't like Trump and fear his dictates, shouldn't you be looking into the power of the office?
The funny part of this comment is that Trump, his family and staff were caught by the Patriot Act.

So it turned out to be a good law.

Removing the filibuster was understood that when you are not in power, you may not like what or who gets past.

Roe vs Wade isn't getting over turned. The guy isn't a bastion for conservancy. Center to the right. I don't see him as a particular shining star, he's just meh.

Kavanaugh is just a tail-wagging sycophant to Trump. He was nominated, so if confirmed, he will be Trump's personal envoy to the Supreme Court and to do his bidding there. So when Trump is taken down, what happens to him? Whose bidding will he do then? We should worry about that.

Oh, whatever. Salon is nothing more than a hard-left, communist rag, and can't be taken seriously. Nothing to see here. This nation's future, meanwhile, is brighter now than it had been in years.
