It's hard to take all this doom-and-gloom stuff seriously when the left was already worked into a froth about the pick for the court, before it had even been announced. All the talking points were generic enough that they could be applied to anyone who may have been the nominee.
And then you have Schumer threatening anyone crosses the party line.
Do you guys really not see how unhinged the left has become? Everything is justified in your own heads but sure as heck doesn't seem grounded in reality.
After 8 years of Obama radically attempting to change the American culture and spirit to the left, it was hard to see how we would dig our way back to righteousness and fidelity to the Constitution. President Trump remains our best hope to getting back on track, and he is fully delivering. Tax cuts, which are leading to a booming economy and economic growth at levels so-called economists said was impossible during the campaign; appointing constitutionalists to the federal judiciary; enforcing our immigration laws and working to secure the borders; taking commonsense steps to keep visitors out from countries that don't adequately vet their citizens; etc. He isn't perfect (far from it), but THANK GOD for our president.
Actually, the job is very political. They decide whatever is politically expedient, and this is not a new observation, it's just a bit worse these days since the influence of big money can't be restrained.
Well, evidently, it was "politically expedient" to uphold the First Amendment in the Colorado baker's case. Kennedy, in the 7-2 majority opinion:
"The government, consistent with the Constitution's guarantee of free exercise, cannot impose regulations that are hostile to the religious beliefs of affected citizens and cannot act in a manner that passes judgment upon or presupposes the illegitimacy of religious beliefs and practices"
Two prohibitions there. Cannot impose in the first place, and then cannot act to enforce that imposition.
Your side of the argument used the press to convince Americans that there was a terrorist hiding behind every rock, tree, and shrub. So the more data collection and invasion of privacy the better. Because the govt and the war mongering right had to protect the country. Except as usual with excesses by govt, there wasn’t a terrorist behind every rock, tree, and shrub. And much was driven by the greed of the "right" *
* whatever "the right" is -- please define it.
Quote:
Your constitution was written in a time when the culture was very different. Most of the founders couldnt imagine a society without slaves, or a society where workers had rights to a safe environment, or when women and blacks had the right to vote and a voice in the machinations of govt. Much of your constitution wasnt relevant. Thats why more and more amendments and more and more social engineering by the courts. Laws are not delivered by God into congress and the courts. They are made by men and are thus prone to error.
.
And your eagerness to cite a non-issue (in this case) like slavery, and to "wave the bloody shirt" of imagined class-warfare reveals you as just another burned out (pseudo-)"liberal" seeking a sentimental wallow back in the Sixties

You are the one waving the constitution around as if its a relevant document. Its not. Nor is it sacred. I suggest you get your head out of the proverbial sand and start looking around. Of course there is class warfare. Roe at its foundation is all about class. The rich dont care about your laws on abortion. They will do whatever they want. Ban or no ban. The tax cuts of the right are all about promoting class warfare. Try taking off your rose/right colored glasses.
The easiest way to make a million dollars: write a book that makes outlandish claims and caters to hysterical members of certain groups (left, right, or libertarian).
The confirmation-bias economy will always be thriving regardless of economic cycles.
