Nonsense. Just because you don't recognize it does not mean it doesn't exist. You, personally, do not define society.

The reality is that the deficit looked a heck of a lot better before Trump passed a huge tax cut for the 1% he couldn't pay for.

Slick Willy was the greatest fiscal conservative in decades.

Republicans choke when it comes to big league decisions like meaningfully cutting spending or trying to "repeal and replace"

Paying taxes is not an all or nothing proposition.

Just because I agree that a certain amount of taxation is necessary for the legitimate functions of government doesn't mean that I must agree in perpetuity to any and all forms of taxation for any and all use that Big Government sees fit.

"Render unto Ceasar what is Ceasar's" doesn't mean that Ceasar gets to decide what is Ceasar's and what it mine.

On January 20, 2009, when Obama was sworn in, the debt was $10.626 trillion. On January 20, 2017, when he left, it was $19.947 trillion.

Obama doubled it...added $10 trillion

Bro, you really showed them!
This, of course, was in addition to the economic "stimulus" billions passed for "economic stimulus" in 2009 by Obama.

Shovel ready jobs anyone?

Every administration in our recent history has added to our massive debt load. BOTH parties. Let's be honest about that at least.

America is such a beautiful country as all our voices can be heard.
Great post. This might be the first or second time I've ever agreed with you.

ETA: And I voted straight R this time, and I have never done that before.

You clearly don't know what social contract means. Social contract doesn't refer to the welfare state, it refers to the notion of giving some rights in exchange for protection of other fundamental rights. It does not fall under free food, healthcare, housing, or other gibsmedats. It mainly refers to basic fundamental services like protection, IE police, firefighters, etc of your right to live.

As for your critique of the welfare state, I am absolutely not opposed to it. I think you need to get a life if you really went that far in my post history to try to criticize me. I was literally on food stamps as a starving college student for less than a semester. As an attorney on a higher than average salary, I'll be paying way more into the system throughout my lifetime than I'll ever get back so I'm not sure what point you are trying to make by bringing up the fact that I used a social service temporarily.
