Oh the insanity of it all.
How was he forced. Are all students required to take this class. Doubtful. Most colleges require gen ed courses in order to graduate. My son had to take theatre because the other classes were full for this requirement.

You can include Montgomery County Community College in Pennsylvania as in indoctrination Center for the radical left. My nephew in his first semester there has a professor who spouts off leftist propaganda that has nothing to do with the course that she is supposedly teaching.

The university was a last minute decision? Or are you referring to the degree?

So what's the new plan? If he's on the expected schedule, your son is three years into a five year dual degree and will be transferring to another university after spring semester to complete the engineering portion of his studies. Are you just going to throw out all he's accomplished so far at UW-La Crosse because of one class? That seems...short-sighted.

Your nephew is only indoctrinated if he comes around to agreeing with her point of view.

I can listen to Limbaugh w/o becoming a dittohead, for instance. Maybe your nephew is capable of thinking for himself, too.

The existence of an alternative viewpoint is only threatening to those who don't have a firm grasp on their own point of view.

Carry on.

Hmmm... The highest high school drop out rates are among non-Asian urban minorities. Those same groups overwhelmingly vote Dem. Seems you're making the right's point for them. The uneducated are overwhelmingly left-wingers. By the way, how's that war on poverty going?

Why do people continue with this nonsense?

Uneducated minorities tend to vote Dem, uneducated white people tend to vote Republicans. It's simple identity politics.

The University of Wisconsin requires the completion of an "Ethnic Studies" course to graduate. There are several options that meet the requirements, and my child took the African Storyteller course. Though the focus of this course was on how Africans related and taught their cultural beliefs and basic history to successive generations via the art of storytelling, the same concept is universally true throughout the world.

The percentage of high school dropouts who are urban Democrat minorities is much higher.

How's that war on poverty going?

Wisconsin I've noticed is overwhelmingly White, that's why I suspect all these "ethnic studies" are enforced there.

The big difference is that your listening to Rush Limbaugh is optional. When one attends a university, many classes are required or "core" classes to obtain a degree. In that instance, the students are compelled to listen to the prof, whether they want to or not, as a required exercise in obtaining a degree.

Political indoctrination has no place in a university. In fact, the opposite should be true for a venue that presumes to expand the intellectual horizons of the students. Many different view points should be offered in non science classes; presenting only liberal viewpoints is stifling creativity and limiting the knowledge base of the students. Lastly, politics has no place in the sciences- if profs in STEM classes are presenting politically ideology, they are deviating from their assigned duties in teaching those classes.
