Are you complaining about humanities in general, or specifically about it being a women's studies class?
My university required CORE Humanities, Liberal Arts, and Foreign Language courses to be taken by ALL students. So, initially even as a Science major, I had to pick which ones to take to fulfill the core requirements. If I did not have enough credits in these subjects, I could not have graduated. I think that is a good philosophy, but again, I could pick my courses. I would not have picked Women, Minority, or Gender Studies type courses, but I believe many schools are now mandating those types of courses due to PC/Progressive mentality.

I don't mind humanities in general ( except for when the discussions center on the "third gender" - I mean my son feels indoctrinated at this point ) but "women's study" in particular that is shoved down the throats of the physics/engineering majors - yes, I am against that.
My kid, who chose physics/engineering in his University is FORCED to take "women's study" class.
Oh the insanity of it all.
He was forced to take a women's studies course specifically? Are you sure? More likely that he chose women's studies off a list of humanities options because it fit into his schedule. Can you please name the college/university where this took place? Frankly, I find it hard to believe. I have put two kids through STEM degrees at major universities. Both did have humanities requirements, but they had lots of options for fulfilling those requirements.

Exactly. There is no evidence of ANY major public college forcing gender studies. Humanities, yes. Women studies, no.

I doubt that he was forced to take a "women's study class". Colleges usually require 6 units in humanities courses (2 classes) and some students sign up for hispanic, black, or women's studies because they think those classes will be easier than courses in philosophy history or anthropology.

Yes. He would have never chosen such thing on his own accord)))
And no, it's not a "major University;" besides, STEM is too broad of a definition, since it includes biology.
There are plenty of women in biology, but very few in physics/math/engineering.
And that's the group that's targeted in this particular case.

Fine, I'll be specific about STEM. Eldest child, male, completed a computer science degree. Second child, female, is finishing an engineering degree. Both chose major universities in Colorado, and neither was required to take women's studies and neither did. I do not recall what my eldest chose, but my second took a general anthropology course.
Now, it's your time to be specific. What college/university is requiring that all students take women's studies?

I didn't say "ALL Students," did I?
I explained what group is targeted specifically in this case.
