nah...I would not shut down the press conferences...
I would give him his access back...make him sign, and his higher headquarters (CNN in this case) a statement of understanding to press conference etiquette ..so he understands the POTUS press conference is run by POTUS...he choses who he calls on..when called, the reporter gets 1 to 2 questions, then respectfully waits for an answer (the answer may not be the answer he/she wants, but it is an answer)..THEN HE/SHE ALLOWES THEIR PEERS GO GET A CHANCE...Acosta showed he was a rude, and cude reporter who did not care about his peers and their chances to ask questions
upon signing the sworn statement of understanding, he/she would understand that any violation of press conference etiquette would be grounds for dismissal
Why ? Because Trump can't take what Dozens of other presidents before him managed to withstand ??
Sam Donaldson was famously agressive with multiple presidents yet his WH Press pass was never pulled. Is Trump such a snowflake that he needs a safe-space to have his press conference (no need to answer this question) ...
As it stands, Sherrill is the law. You may disagree with it, but there is no indication that it is going down anytime soon, your opinion notwithstanding. You can't simply look at any precedent that you don't like and ignore it on the premise that you think a higher appellate court may overturn it - it is the law unless and until it is overturned and not a moment before. As such, the executive is not free to ignore it. Otherwise, why bother to have laws at all?

Donaldson was aggressive...not rude, and rude to his peers
You are making patently untrue claims here. The judge restored his pass temporarily on the grounds that he did not receive due process. The Constitition isn’t really involved in that decision. The White House has rules that must be followed to revoke a press pass and they didn’t follow them. That’s what was decided. Not any 1A issues.
Not trying to specifically respond to you, but to everyone who is trying to make this argument. Due process issues are Constitutional issues. Due process refers to a person being denied their Constitutional rights through a fair and just process. CNN's case is about Acosta's credentials being pulled, and how that violates his First Amendment rights. The judge's ruling about due process not being followed is a ruling that Acosta's First Amendment rights should not be violated without a fair and just process being followed that allows Acosta to defend his rights, and forces the White House to explain why Acosta should be denied those rights.
So this isn't that hard to solve. Have two microphones in the room, and a technician who can turn one "off" and the other "on" remotely.
Have someone (maybe press secretary?) put all the names of the reporters who would like to ask a question in a box. Draw one out, hand the card to Trump, and he'll call on the reporter. That reporter will be given the microphone. The reporter has 10 seconds to ask the question (or thereabouts) and then the President can answer, at any length he chooses to answer. The reporter gets one 10 second clarification, the President can answer at length, or say "let's move on". Then, the mike is turned off and the other mike is "hot", and another reporter's name is drawn at random.
Anyone shouting loudly who is not holding a "hot" mike will be escorted off for disturbing the peace.
Not so hard. And it's needed, in this current climate of the Emperor. This system would encourage civility and avoid that ridiculous exchange where they both looked like ***holes.
Perhaps Trump can station secret service personnel to line the walls with tasers at the ready. When a reporter gets up Trump's nose and starts asking questions that hit too close to Trump's obfuscations, they can zap him/her with the taser and watch them thrash wildly on the floor.
That would probably keep the press in line and they'd only ask questions like, "So how was your day, Sir". "Is Kim Il Jung going to open that Resort, hotel business".
Well, it could be said that the judge who gave Acosta back his rights was appointed by Trump also.
So although he may think he has them "in his pocket", turns out he doesn't.
Thank God.
A-M-E-N... that PATHOLOGICAL LYING,EVIL,VILE,NO-IQ-SUBHUMAN-THUG should be called out by every reporter to provide evidence for every lie that he spews, or better yet, every media outlet in the world should ignore the thing, and boycott IT, since IT only spews total nonsense anyway!
A-M-E-N..... that disgusting, PATHOLOGICAL-LYING,EVIL,VILE,SUBHUMAN-NO-IQ-THUG, should be called out by EVERY reporter, on every single lie that leaves his lips, insist on evidence which will show what a fool he is...….or even better every media outlet should totally ignore and boycott that piece of garbage!
How can someone possibly get so worked up over Jim Acosta? I believe he is a divisive character only there to create conflict and work people up like you to build outrage. Look at this post and tell me how we (conservatives) are supposed to be rational with rhetoric like this.
