This is the sum being wasted on one single wedding there. This in a country where 270 million live at below the national poverty line set at $14/month income.
Hollywood is in attendance along with Hillary Clinton who brought Anthony Weiner's wife. Hypocrisy at it's finest.
I'll be in Mumbai in a couple of weeks for a wedding. Not $100m for sure, but still a pretty swanky event. It's their money after all. I just hope they don't mind my jeans and Stetson hat. Fortunately I'll have a flask of bourbon with me, so I doubt I'll actually care what people think. CHEERS!
I think that is an insane amount of money to spend on a wedding, but the fact, Waldo, is the only reason you give a rat's behind is because of the guest list.
It is not for us to judge the rich guy, but the bigger point is, why are there so many rich, intelligent Indians, yet dismal deplorable poverty? It is not the responsibility of one rich guy to fix India, but he should be a part of a bigger solution.
India spends $50 Billion a year on Defence which is more than Germany spends (US$44 Billion), and has a space program as well as nuclear weapons and is investing in high speed rail, the first line from Mumbai to Ahmedabad has already started construction at a cost US$15 Billion, and this is the first of five new high speed rail lines.
I disdain entertainers, like marginally talented beyonce the hypocrite. she preaches about injustice, the poor, and global warming while spending millions of dollars on her little kid's mink coats, carbon fuel guzzlers like private jets and mega yachts, and 'culturally appropriated' blonde hair.

Well, doing the math with the stats given, and assuming all 270 million people in India who are below the poverty line get by on an average of 30 cents (equivalent) per day, that $100 million could feed each one at the starving level for ~3 days, or at the proper level for maybe 2 meals?
Not really hard math.
