Too bad so many were there when Trump handed out the Kool-Aid.

Default Question about a possible state of emergency declaration

If Trump declares a state of emergency, does that mean that the shutdown ends right away?

And if it does end right away and the declaration is overturned by judges, would the shutdown resume or stay shut down?

This should be the only pre-reopening of Govt offer

For any better offer, Govt open before talks begin is the only way.

Dems need to set option 1 as the only table offer take it or leave it.

But if Trump opens Govt without taking the reduced money offer, Dems should then set a precedent by agreeing to closer to the $5 billion for the wall, but only after Govt is opened. Or get much less for it and closed issue, Trump take your pick.

Leave it.

Default The real reason for the shutdown fight

I'm starting to think it's all just planned theater with both sides trying to hype up a fake "emergency" and bitter fight that puts the general public in a state of near-panic...

...then, when the poop is flowing like a river out of the National Park outhouses and all the regular people are panicked that they won't get their tax returns on time the mother of all pork-barrel, pet-project, anti-liberty spending bills will be announced, voted into law and we'll all cheer... until we realize what we've actually lost.

Solely Trump’s ego. Remember he was about to let it go before he got called out by his favorite tv show.

It's a really, really weak personality problem. Ever notice how he sits with his arms folded, coiled up in a self enforced cocoon? That's the same thing. Weak. Defensive. Afraid. Needs to have "things" around himself to make up for his weakness as a human being.
Assuming this shutdown persists, come Saturday, Trump will preside over the longest Shutdown in history.

Trump was highly critical of Obama during the 2013 Shutdown. He made clear, Congress did not matter. A Shutdown was the failure of presidential leadership. Trump said history remembers the President, not the Congress.

Trump sent Pence to negotiate on his behalf and he did- a CR and conveyed Trump was onboard. Limbaugh and Colter condemned Trump and Trump changed his mind.

Trump made clear he would own a Shutdown when he chose to televise his meeting with “ Chuck and Nancy”. He made clear he would not blame Democrats.

Then he did.

Where’s the sense of urgency to secure our northern border? This is about our safety and stats show that the northern border is the more immanent terror threat. Where’s the northern border wall GoFundMe effort?
Wrong! Trump has never been convicted of "knowingly" having had illegals working for him.

Are you joking about our northern border? 80% of illegal aliens have come through our southern border not our northern one.

The former FBI Director disagrees with you. He has stated that there have been many from known terrorist countries that have came right in along with so-called migrants and disappeared into our country.

I have never heard of the 41 possible terrorists who "attempted" to breach our northern border illegally. Got a link for that? An attempt is not succeeding but on our southern border they succeeded to enter. When we have millions breaching our northern border then we can talk about a wall there.

Aside from the terror threat there are millions who came through our southern border that have raped our country economically not so through our northern border.

This is all blowing up in Pelosi's face.

This is NOT how Pelosi, or any other Democrat, envisioned starting off the new year and the new Democrat-controlled House. They thought January would be a month of subpoenaes, congressional investigations, Mueller reports, and maybe even indictments. They thought they would be on the attack and Trump on his heels. They thought they would be controlling the action.

Dumb Dems celebrated in November as if they had captured total control of government, apparently too stupid to understand that the GOP still controlled the White House, the more powerful Senate, and SCOTUS. They were going to immediately get Trump's tax returns. They vowed to reopen government on day 1. They thought they held all the power. Well they are finding out they essentially have no power at all. Pelosi and her butler Schumer are starting to realize this.

Trump is controlling the agenda not Pelosi. Trump wakes up in the morning and decides what the discussions that day will be about. Pelosi wakes up and turns on CNN to see what Trump decided.

Then there’s that pesky matter of 11-20 million ( depends on who estimates) illegal immigrants in the US each of whom has a right to Due Process.

Manufactured crisis at the border. Mueller wrapping up his investigation. Revealed that Manafort was engaged in a criminal conspiracy with Russian intelligence operatives and supplying them polling information to help Trump win the election.

Russian business entity probably a bank resisting subpoena by Mueller and paying 50K per day fine. Most likely a case of Trump involved in money laundering with the oligarchs. Trump will do anything to distract. Republicans did nothing for two years on the border and now a crisis.
