Pelosi has said that even if they sign a short term CR she will not even discuss border infrastructure of any kind.
Whatever the deal was it was agreed to weeks ago by the Dems and Reps and Trump was set to sign it. Sorry, he owns this.

Now, these are FACTUAL deaths by illegal immigrants...

Do you have the ability to understand the difference? We will see by your response...

Victims of Illegal Aliens Memorial
There are sadly deaths caused by illegal immigrants. But the numbers are nowhere near the deaths caused by mass shootings by Americans in this country. Why aren't we addressing that issue?

What does the number of illegal immigrants killing people have to do with the number of Americans killing people?

If the illegal immigrants were not here, would those killed, be dead, by those illegal immigrants?

And it is the job of congress to send a bill to the president that he can sign. All three branches of government “own” this and a failure to even negotiate at this point is a bad look for speaker Pelosi. Trump is getting a fence, not a wall, now the only thing to compromise on is how much is our border security worth to the Dems?

I'm saying yes there are some people who have been murdered by illegals. But way more have been murdered by mass shooters. So why isn't that issue being addressed? There is such outrage about illegals committing murder on the right, but crickets when it comes to mass shootings.

I agree that border security and immigration reform should be addressed. But to get so upset about murders committed by illegals and to do nothing about mass murders is a disconnect to me.

The Dems and Reps had that bill that Trump was going to sign a few weeks ago. He walked away after listening to Ann Coulter. The Dems want border security. Trump wants a monument. This actually looks worse for Trump than it does Pelosi as Trump said he would be the proud owner of the shutdown. The Dems have passed many bills trying to reopen the government and keep border security conversations going. I do believe there should be serious immigration reform and border security, and both parties need to come to the table on that.

Trump did not issue any such orders. Do people really believe that Trump issued some kind of legal order or EO or veto to shut down government? You do realize that the govt automatically enters shutdown when a spending bill expires and a new one has not passed. Congress has not passed any bill. Congress has all the legal power here.

Pelosi could end the shutdown by simply consenting to wall funding, which is a trivial fraction of a percentage point of the budget and 2x less than what she consented for foreign aid to Central America.

Dems and Reps had a bill that was agreed to weeks ago that Trump was going to sign. He walked away. That being said both parties need to get together for serious immigration reform and border security. Why not open the government and continue the border security talks?

I guess she can claim anything she wants since it was all kept in secret. I think Trump (or his team) would know how long it was for since it was using military air transport. But if for a weekend, then what an extravagant waste of taxpayer dollars to haul so many firends and relatives.
