I'm concerned even if Trump offers the deportation protections and the Democrats agree, he can then change his mind. Meanwhile, he has the $5.7 billion and the Dems can't take that back.

Hillary did not run on open borders and was a proponent of walls in the past. But to use your own logic, if Americans wanted a wall, McCarthy would be Speaker of the House. Trump shouted and the GOP ran in every district on border security and "build the wall" and they suffered an historic defeat in red district after red district giving control of the House to the Democrats. And while I am sure you don't believe polls that don't support your point of view, there are dozens of them, several in the past few days that show that the American people are more opposed to a wall than in favor of it.
