He learned his business practices from the Mafia. Now, he thinks he can apply them to politics. Trump's Waterloo is nigh.
That's the situation in a nutshell.

Victory fatigue.

We are presently paying for it, but this will condition Americans to recognize govt can be downsized, which it will be, no doubt, in years to come.

Its already happening, in many cases, at the state level.

Downsized to the point of extinction, if the political hurricane of Trump is allowed to continue.

I am concerned about the DACA people, but think the billions of $$’s it will take to build that wall (many more than 5) are too great a price to pay for their status.

When you go to the root of this problem. Its really disgusting. This country is actually being held hostage, by people from 3rd World countries. People that illegally enter this country. A country that has so little respect for its own, it has allowed this mess to happen over decades.

It would be bad enough, if our Govt was shut down over internal budget issues. Issues directly involving our healthcare, or other issues directly involving citizens of the USA. However that is not the case. We are shutdown because of people pouring in here illegally.

I think Trump can be a bit much, but at least he admits there is a serious problem, and attempts to fix it.

Still we are shutdown by people coming here illegally. That is the root of this problem. We should be taking care of our own first. We are not responsible for all these people. We have every right to protect our borders. We are neglecting our own problems, yet immigration seems to be the only focus in this country. As far as I'm concerned this is morally wrong. Still we are being held hostage by illegal entry into the USA. Its really unbelievable a county this powerful, could allow this to happen. Its about time somebody said it.

TLDR; but caught the jist.

People aren’t “flooding” in. The numbers have been declining for most of the last decade.

This is a crisis manufactured by Trump to distract his supporters from the coming Mueller report and the negative statements being made about him by Cohen and others.

And the democrats kept their word to Reagan regarding immigration?
They told him, if he gave amnesty to millions that had entered illegally, they would work for immigration reform.
He gave amnesty, and the dems defaulted on their promise to him.
And now you think we should trust democrats?
You have to be kidding.

Bob.

Bingo.

Also, Trump's attorneys asked for and got a delay in the emoluments case due to the shutdown.

Perhaps Trump believes he can put all of it on hold as long as the government is shutdown.
