How is that right in anyone's book? Mitch needs to start doing his job and putting stuff that's passed in the house up for a vote in the senate.
Democrats could demand a pathway for dreamers in return for increased border security spending. This shouldn’t be too hard as the Dems already say they support border security. We could beef up the ports of entry, increase and repair existing barrier, hire more border patrol, use technology. Who wouldn’t support that?

This is absolutely ridiculous.
You have to remember that you may not be getting the full picture.

On the first day of the 116th Congress

Quote:
The vote to reopen government is expected to sail through with a majority of Democrats supporting six bipartisan spending bills that fund most of the closed agencies through September and a short-term extension of current funding for the Department of Homeland Security. Pelosi said the legislation gives Republicans a chance to reopen government and to keep working on border security, which is funded through DHS.

McTurtle would not bring this bill to a vote.

Pelosi and congress are continuing to work on a bill.

Quote:
“We have canceled our district work period next week to stay here to work on legislation to open up government, to continue our ongoing drumbeat of bills to open up government, starting with bills that the Republicans themselves passed in the Senate but now won’t take up,” Pelosi said. “But we’ll go to the next step next week on that.”

Trump's offer did not include a path to citizenship, only a kick of the can down the road.

The biggest problem with this shutdown is the fringe right that goes on false information and dig in their heals based on it.

They've already been doing that and Mitch is sitting on bills the House has passed but he won't put them up for a yes/not vote. But we all know the REAL problem is that right-wing pundits are yelling in Trump's ear and they've caused him back out of a compromise bill that he gave Mitch's his word he would sign, then he back out of it. Trump does not bargain in good faith.

Last February, the Democrats voted for a bill giving trump 25 billion for his wall in exchange for DACA. The GOP voted against it under the advice of trump.

Quote:
A divided Senate rejected a bipartisan plan Thursday to help young "Dreamer" immigrants and parcel out money for the wall President Donald Trump wants with Mexico, as Republican leaders joined with the White House and scuttled what seemed the likeliest chance for sweeping immigration legislation this election year.
Quote:
Democratic leaders rallied behind a bipartisan plan that would also give 1.8 million Dreamers a chance for citizenship. But while it would provide the $25 billion Trump wants for his wall, it would dole it out over 10 years and lacks most of the limits Trump is seeking on legal immigration.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., said Trump has "stood in the way of every single proposal that has had a chance of becoming law."

I get it but what are we going to do about it? I am so tired of people acting like they are going to convince anyone..

I can't understand why Trump won't declare a state of emergency.

I listened to Senator Gillenbrand this morning on a news show and she was delusional. I think even the reporter was surprised. When asked about the Buzzfeed report she goes "just more evidence that Trump is working with he Russians." - reporter, even though it was proven false? Idiot:Well it raises a question in my mind.

Ugh... they are traitors and irrational.

Continue enjoying the shutdown.

For productive, self sufficient, solid work ethic Americans who obtained 21st century training and education, it is a Big So What.

No need to rush on any offer insufficient to provide massive additional immediate mechanisms to eliminate illegal immigration from continuing.

Happy 30th Shutdown Day, everyone.
