You know nothing about Venezuela, The main problem with Venezuela is the government nationalized all of the Foreign oil companies facilities and used the high price of oil to support a welfare state. When oil prices crashed in 2014, they could no longer afford to support there welfare state, also they didn't keep up with oil production infrastructure maintenance. Oil production has been steadily declining the last six years. So it doesn't matter if oil prices sky rocket tomorrow, they can't easily recover, and no foreign firm is going to invest in a country where they were previously burned by getting there assets nationalized.

So you're saying that the citizens of those northern states don't care about the citizens of this country who are near the border or are having to bear the brunt of this illegal invasion? I thought we were all in this together? You know, "united we stand, divided we fall'?

Hot flash for ya. Illegal aliens have taken jobs in those northern states also and are sucking the taxes and resources of those states just as well.

I’ve lived at the northern (nine years ago) and southern (currently) borders and have yet to witness any so-called “illegal invasions”.

I don't know of any big caravans fleeing the United States bound for Venezuela.

Some Venezuelans want to move here though. So your comparison is nuts. People aren't moving there, they're leaving. So how will we become Venezuela?

But back to the topic- IF Trump declares a National Emergency for a crisis he started, I can't understand why Congress would approve it. None of the other many national emergencies in my lifetime were self-caused by the President. This is the very first one.

And I don't think attempting extorting the government with the threat will be very popular next year.

Maybe Trump should direct his fans to go stand on the border and lock elbows to make an impenetrable human-chain wall. Don't forget the sun screen and a few cases of bottled water. Probably need a MAGA hat. Watch out for snakes. Maybe after a few days they will notice that there's nobody trying to cross and there's no need for a wall.

Even with the human chain, illegals over-staying their visas will still be the largest number coming in and illegals will still come in by the dozens at border crossings. Employers, mostly Republican, will still hire illegals in droves and balk at enforcing e-verify because of their greed.

Trump will be disparaged in history books and classrooms for centuries to come. The premise of this thread has taken delusion to a new level. In fact, if Trump manages to get any money for a border wall, it will further lower support for him and the Republicans in coming elections. If he declared an emergency and stole money from legitimate projects to fund a wall, it would probably be his last act in office. That could be a good thing for the country, if he violated the balance of power and then crashed and burned.

As a dead ex-president. That's where the comparison will end.
He will be remembered mostly as a traitor and a national disgrace.
