I agree, it is not a constitutional issue, however, they should be legal.
Unlike what the movies show, they do not make a gun silent, it merely muffles the sound to where it will not blow your eardrums out, you can still hear it loud and clear.
The US Supreme let stand lower court rulings that federal regulation of gun silencers was not a violation of the 2nd Amendment to the Constitution. Eight moronic States wanted silencers protected under the 2nd amendment. The lower courts ostensibly ruled that silencers are no "bearable" arms under the Constitution.
Just more ignorant statists seeking to impose THEIR will upon an action or inaction that does not encroach upon the rights or property of another. Each and every statist who seeks to impose THEIR will, beliefs, morality and dictates upon society when the action or inaction they seek to prohibit does not encroach upon the rights or property of another should rot in hell for eternity. After all, what is a natural right? A natural right is any action or inaction that does not encroach upon the rights or property of another.
But then again, that's just MY opinion, for what it's worth.
And a suppressor works much better at the range. It doesn't shut out the sounds you need to hear.
What sounds would those be? I wear ear protection at the range and I'm able to hear everything I need to hear.
