Ehm - there kind of is. Christianity has schismed any number of times. People went to the stake for being the wrong kind of Christian.

Very true. When I was studying religion, I attended many different services, Baptist, Mormon, Catholic, Pentecostal, etc. All claim to be Christian, but the beliefs are not even similar.

How would you presume to know what all liberals think?

Stupidity is represented most significantly by this very example of assuming a whole demographic believes something the accuser thinks will scandalize intelligent people....they're inevitably wrong because the bulk of humanity is smarter than them.

This is true. There wasn't an unending supply of Jeffersons and Washingtons, so things got a bit more provincial.

Let's be fair - some of them. The most influential ones, arguably, but not all.
