Ehm - there kind of is. Christianity has schismed any number of times. People went to the stake for being the wrong kind of Christian.

Because (some of) the Founders were Christian, it does not follow that the country is founded on Christian belief. These were sharp, well-read men, some of the finest thinkers of the Enlightenment - yet their documents lack any semblance of reference to religion - except to make certain that affairs of government and affairs of religion were kept strictly separate.

Stupidity is represented most significantly by this very example of assuming a whole demographic believes something the accuser thinks will scandalize intelligent people....they're inevitably wrong because the bulk of humanity is smarter than them.
