Even big cities like Wash, DC had school sponsored GUN CLUBS in school and the kids would take their rifles slung over their shoulder with them, stick it in a corner until after school.

In MANY places, NOT just in the "hicks", during hunting season kids would take their rifles INTO school with them.
Good point. I know some individuals that are in their mid 40's and remember doing this in school, and the areas they lived in weren't exactly rural.

Our local 4h and Boy Scouts still shoot. We even have a county shooting club for kids.


And there has been ONE gun death in my county in the last TEN years.
