Exactly. Most if not all State and Local gun laws are unconstitutional as they are obvious infringements and much more than "reasonable restrictions". However, corrupt, lower courts uphold them, and they don't get to the Supreme Court.
In the last 25 years semi auto sporting rifles, and semi auto hand guns have become the most popular firearms in the U.S. They are certainly "Commons Use" by any standards. They can not be legally "banned", nor confiscated.
True in 2019. Will it be true in 2069, 50 years from now? My guess is no.
When you look at the demographics of those that advocate for more gun ownership control versus those protecting gun rights, there is a big differential based on age, income and education. The gun culture that we have today is largely a vestige of our frontier days.
Change is coming - it's just a matter of time, and the firearms industry knows it. It's why they are desperately working to control legislators and public discourse at every level. Very similar to the tobacco industry, who had to scramble to adjust to the fact that tobacco use was headed for a precipitous decline.

Pew research has taken many polls that are wrong. Most gun owners never answer any poll because it is none of anyone's business.

^^^^^This. Gun ownership is a very personal thing. Plus, there are security concerns as guns are sometimes stolen by criminals that look for them. No way would most gun owners divulge that type of information to a stranger. If they did give any info, it would likely be FALSE.

never seems to be clarified down the rocky road......... so let me tell you the POLICE version.
Police training teaches ANYTHING is an item to be use to ASSAULT with, such as:
beer bottle, tire iron. base ball bat, axe, hammer, screwdriver, rock, knife, etc, etc, etc, etc........
Looking forward to all the MAGA righties telling us how socialist /communist /leftist faux news has become lol
So what....
" Personal liberty, or the Right to enjoyment and protection of life and liberty, is one of the fundamental or natural Rights, which has been protected by its inclusion as a guarantee in the various constitutions, which is not derived from, or dependent on, the U.S. Constitution, which may not be submitted to a vote and may not depend on the outcome of an election. It is one of the most sacred and valuable Rights, as sacred as the Right to private property...and is regarded as inalienable."

The problem with such 'common sense' bans is what comes next. Such a ban, just as with the abortion issue, opens a pandora's box. For the sake of our future freedoms, we cannot allow any such regulations to come into fruition with regards to guns. Our very liberties depend on preventing it.
I propose a grand agreement, whereby we give the Democrats their abortion - they are mostly aborting each other anyway, in return for their quieting on gun issues.

I'm to the point where I think the best outcome is we peacefully self relocate to a few separate autonomous regions and the US dissolves as we know it to 3 or 4 self governing entities but we all have free trade agreements and affiliations. Think of the way the US and Canada are now but more closely related.
I think the only way to save this ship is if we do it ourselves and self relocate to areas where you have similar political beliefs. That way California can enact whatever laws they want and it would have no effect on the southeast. And the southeast can have whatever gun laws they want and California won't care.
I feel as a country we are like a married couple that has reached the point of irreconcilable differences and we view the other half with contempt.
Just my .02 cents
