In fact, democrats controlled both houses of congress for the entirety of the 50's and 60's, except for 2 years (the 83rd congress in 1953-55):

I think most in this thread are commenting on a general social malaise, not partisan politics.

Politics is the new religion.

Which is pretty pathetic when you think about it.

Agreed, but Taratova and a couple others decided to turn it into a political thread.

No morals
BUUUZZZZZZ>........Computer says no!

"In the long term, violent crime in the United States has been in decline since colonial times. The homicide rate has been estimated to be over 30 per 100,000 people in 1700, dropping to under 20 by 1800, and to under 10 by 1900"

Well, that surely shows a RISE in general morals. BTW, in KY and TN the murder rate hit 250 per 100,000 for short periods, or 10X as bad as bad (feuds, ignorance, no law enforcement).

Plenty of preggies were terminated in the "olden daze". One particular well known woman, just one, performed about 40,000.

Abortions were common, legal and even OK with most churches prior to about 1870...when it became politicized. It was illegal for 100 years only.

So was the Revolution or the Civil War or Lincoln or Jefferson, Washington and all of those devoid of morality?

You are free to believe what you like, but the facts do have a well-know bias...toward truth.

Well, Religion itself didn't do such a great job either - at least until some started updating and reforming it.

Maybe the same will happen with politics? Isn't that what happens in places like Denmark - the happiness places in the world?

Liberals want this country to go down in flames. And liberals make up close to 50% of this nation. They are also sneaking in millions of illegals to shift the polls in their favor. There's your answer(s).

with the 1980 election of Ronald ray-gun many of "US" saw this future ahead with the trickle down and re-glorification of the military industrial complex

How many decades ago? The 1950s and the 1990s were very different.

Really. The 1990s were great. Clinton's troubles and corruption weren't as bad as Trump's. The country was never the same after 9/11.
