An ellipses denotes something being purposely omitted or removed. There are ellipses in the partial transcript that was released. Let's see the unredacted one and what was omitted. Why would you be against that if you are so certain Trump did nothing wrong?

Hmm. I keep thinking about Merrick Garland. These Republicans certainly are sticklers for process, aren’t they?

Why won't they put impeachment to a vote?

This thread's original post is distributing the latest talking point, I note; as pathetic and bogus as it is.
It’s one of Republicans’ main talking points to rebut impeachment: House Democrats’ inquiry isn’t legitimate because the members didn’t vote to start one. And now it’s what President Trump is resting his decision on for not cooperating with the inquiry.

There are a couple of issues with that argument. There is no rule that the full House has to vote to start an impeachment inquiry. And a vote wouldn’t change anything. Nearly all House Democrats support an impeachment inquiry, so if they did take a vote, presumably they would all vote to keep it going.

Republicans surely know a vote won’t stop Democrats’ impeachment inquiry. So why are they pushing for it anyway? It's not as if the Trump administration would cooperate if they obtained a vote. We all know Trump, in his defiance, believes he is immune to investigation, immune to indictment and immune to impeachment. Perhaps he and his lawyers do not understand our Constitution and the 3 co-equal branches of government? Perhaps conning his base is the rationale?

IMO Trump actually believes he is invulnerable. His White House and he himself thinking they are invulnerable will be his undoing. In all tragedies that is the beginning of the downfall, just like the Greeks. He'll probably take all his Republican co-conspirators with him. Tsk Tsk.

We are witnessing Trump being trapped like the rat he is. Trump is that rat in the corner with nowhere to go and lashes out in all directions.

THE FIVE STAGES OF TRUMPISM:

1. It's a total lie, never happened, fake news...

2. It happened, but it's not a big deal.

3. Okay it might be a big deal, but it isn't illegal.

4. Alright, it's illegal, but Hillary and Obama...blahblahblah, so it's okay.

5. Get over it, *******, you're just a sore loser.

Because Trump doesn't get to tell other people how to run his own impeachment inquiry.

Democrats know that if they vote to impeach Trump, then it is going to crush them in the 2020 election. That is why they dare not go forward with it.

This is a purely political calculation by the Democrats.

Because after almost three years, the Dems still don't have a thing.

It would have behooved the Democrat Party to have put all this silliness aside early on, and have worked to improve this country and not screw up everything they have accomplished, instead of tearing it apart and looking like absolute petty jealous fools.

I hate to say this, but the Democrat party is making Rush Limbaugh sound like a astute, insightful, political genius.

What would be really interesting to watch is if they had full control of both chambers, wow.

Fair enough.
Yes. Every impeachment so far has differed in the way it was done. The basics have always been the same, but the way the basics were covered differs in all of the 3 impeachments we have had.

The Constitution says nothing about the procedure to be used, so apparently, the founding fathers left it up to the members of the House to work the details out among themselves.

The impeachment trial that is the Senate's responsibility has more constitutional instructions on how it is to be held.

The democrats aren't fooling anyone.

If the dems think they can conduct an impeachment investigation without granting the Republicans equal rights in the process, like every other impeachment, they are going to have an increasingly difficult time convincing the public that this is legitimate.
