Evil does not exist within a gun. It exists in the minds and hearts of those who pull the trigger for evil purposes
Because there is no plan of what to do. As teachers we were required to report but no one did anything. Social services? They are so underfunded that they can't handle all the cases they get. When they finally get around to it, it's usually too late. Police? They don't seem to have much power. The kid gets reported and maybe the parents get talked to by the police but that's the end.
Needs to be another step in place. Somewhere to send these problematic kids where they will be far removed from society and also be getting some help.
You can indeed have a musket or a muzzle loading pistol if you so choose. Isn't freedom wonderful? But what you can't have, is the right to tell other people what they can have. Or can't have.
And I don't see what's so difficult to understand about the 2nd amendment. The right of the people to bear arms shall not be infringed. What interpretation is required? It says nothing about muskets or muzzle loading pistols. Read through it carefully. It's only one sentence.
I must say though that the language of the day does seem a bit weird although that one sentence would be written pretty much the same today, I should think.
-Make Abortion Illegal (Abortion cheapens life. Very hard for the average person to understand. But life used to be precious and eliminating a developing child is killing. Abortion then proceeds all the way to having people like my former governor who talk about killing a child after it is born. All this works on people's mind, mostly sub-consciously. What kind of message are we really sending?)
-Quit making Violent Videos (Think about it. This really goes without saying)
No, 26 mostly good ideas. Why not try some of these and see if they help the problem? What do we have to lose?
All of our natural rights? You cede an inch to the government, they'll go the mile and build a fortress around everything they took along the way.
Our Bill of Rights was written the way it was for a reason. They knew then who the most likely, biggest threat would always and forever be, so they created a bunch of rules to not let them get too powerful or at least too comfy in that power.
Give up your absolute natural right to keep and bear arms, and every other right comes next, only by then, they'll just take it without worrying too much about you fighting back.
