Well I am glad no one uses the word ****** anymore. I was terrified of George Jefferson, Shaft, Aunt Esta & Flip Wilson everytime they used that word. Now that was an outrage.
Not that the origins matter--or maybe they do in part--but weren't the terms "cracker" and "white thrash" birthed among better off White-Americans? Doesn't "cracker" in particular date back to circa 1900 or so?
Whites are offended by negative labels put on them just as blacks don't like to be called the "N" word or Hispanics don't want to be called spics. Is that a surprise to anyone?
What makes you think many whites are NOT offended by such names?
When you call someone white trash you are saying they are stupid inferior low class human beings...TRASH - I am sure "trash" exists in all races - but if you are not trash - you will be offended being misidentified.
Why are white people not offended by slurs like kracker, honky or white trash?
Racist/ Nazi, is probaly the most offensive slur to a white person
Really? So, if Al Sharpton says in his show tomorrow that some white guy is a honky kracker, no white people are going to be offended? The threads here about it the next day will be civil, no one's feathers will be ruffled, because we're so okay with these slurs? Really?

Sure, some whites will be offended.....but they won't go out and riot over it.
Trash can be salvaged.. so I don't think anyone is trash.. that offends me to call anyone trash. I don't think name calling is good by whites or blacks.
