No, the ones that get "Grant money" to say there is man made "Global Warming" is/are the guys that are pointing that out.... follow the money...

No Grants for telling the truth...
There is no debate among scientists. The only debate is among ordinary people who don't have the facts and just speculate based on personal experiences.

THere are thousands of scientists who disagree with Gore's stupid theory, including the head of The Weather Channel (his name escapes me at the moment). Speaking of not having the facts!

That's what climate change is! A money-waster. And something to make people panic.

Wasn't that John Coleman, but I could be wrong.

It amazes me how people can hear something that doesn't cross all the "T's" and dot the "i's" and because an "Expert" said so, they believe it with all their heart and soul.

According to "Most" of all the experts of our history:

The Earth is flat.

The Universe revolves around the Earth.

Man wasn't meant to fly or be able to.

The moon is made of cheese.

Throwing virgins into volcanoes will please the Gods and all will be well

Throwing people into the water tied up, if they floated they were witches, if they drown, they weren't.

In the 1970's, we were heading into an "Ice Age"

In the 1980's, the Oceans were going to be dead in ten years

In the 1990's, the world if going to end because man made Global Warming.

In the 2000's, "Climate Change" is happening... We need to sell carbon credits to save the world...

The list can go on and on, with all sorts of experts making all sorts of wild claims that have no fact based in reality and followers taking up the cause because they don't have a real life and not a clue to the history of the planet, which has seen it all before.....

Although I liked the one where throwing Mother-in-Laws in Volcano's solved marriage issues....

Actually Al Gore is SO BORING that even the heat energy that's going around the North Pole region would be so bored that they might just slow to a crawl, hence the cold will comeback stronger than ever and the ice caps will grow once again...

First things effing last (and prepare for some serious reading folks - this topic isn't as benign as "Chicago vs. New York")...

This debate is asinine here because it appears most of you have absolutely no idea what on earth you're talking about. You've heard a few talking points on Fox News or MSNBC and proclaimed yourselves experts on the subject. I hate to break it to you, you're not an expert, your knowledge is limited almost to the point of being dangerous, and those bobbing heads on that bright box you spend three hours a day watching aren't experts either.

To begin, let's discuss the semantics of the question. "Do you believe in...." To believe in something requires an untestable, unverifiable principle, something along the lines of religion or philosophy. The idea of global warming/cooling/climate change is not something to "believe in." It's a scientific question, the answer of which is constantly being modified as new data come in.

Second, let's establish that on a planet the age of ours, nothing remains static throughout time, least of all climate. We know for a fact that we've experienced numerous cooling and warming periods in the past 4+ billion years. Even diehard fundamentalist Christians who believe the Earth is only 6000 years old acknowledge concepts like ice-ages.

Third, there isn't really any debate among legitimate scientists, scientists operating without an agenda, about whether or not the climate is changing. It is changing. Refer back to my second point. The current debate is how is it changing, how rapidly is it changing and are we humans affecting that change?

Let's start with the second of those questions. How rapidly is it changing? The answer is fast. According to data collected in ice cores, the type of change we've experience in the last fifty years would normally occur over a millenium. This point is not debateable. If you want details, stop listening to Rush Limbaugh and start reading.

Now for the first question. How is it changing? The answer is we don't entirely know. I know it's strange for some people to not always speak in absolute terms, but that's the way science is. If scientists don't know something, they will keep searching for the answer. They won't automatically proclaim a hypothesis to be true until all the facts are known. Now, what we do know is that more carbon dioxide has been released into the air than the earth can keep up with. Scientists think (again, they don't know this absolutely) there is some correllation between that and other strange weather occurrances we've been having. Summers are generally hotter, winters cooler, storms are bigger, etc.

Now for the last question. Are we humans affecting the change? And, the answer is possibly. There's no denying we are the cause of the additional CO2, and if that is indeed causing the freak weather we've experienced, then we are the culprits.

That said, there is nothing more exasperating than the oft-used anecdotal evidence like "Global warming? But, it snowed here." Don't use your personal knowledge of slight aberrations in data to suggest that because weather was fine one year or one season (or even ten), the thousands or millions of years before it mean absolutely nothing.

No. It belongs on a Science board. Politicizing science is as dangerous as politicizing religion.
