Neither do guns! I think the pit bull is just as much a victim in these scenarios as the people that are injured or killed. Rather than ban the breed why don't the responsible pit bull owners try to pass a law that restricts the ownership of pit bulls? Why not make it so that the only people allowed to own them are ones who are not the undesirable drug using, abusive, dog fighting, neglectful jerks that seem so drawn to the breed? Make it so that if you have a criminal record of any sort...no dog for you! Have it mandatory that the owners and dogs are registered and follow up on them. If there is signs of abuse or neglect..no more dog. Wouldn't this not only protect people but the animals themselves? Don't you care enough about these dogs that you would be willing to do something like that to ensure their safety and well-treatment?

According to the story, they were pitt/rott mixes who were kept behind a 3 FOOT FENCE. Hell, a 3 foot fence wouldn't even keep my mom's pugs in a yard, much less a 90 lb rott mix. The owner of the dogs also had no vaccination records... which means that I seriously doubt he spent any time actually training these dogs, and they probably weren't neutered/spayed either.

Again, owner stupidity.
EXACTLY - Terriers can JUMP. My pit can, so when in the yard (with a 4 foot fence), she is always on-leash or on-tether (never leave her out there alone, of course). Her escape history?
1. Jumped to go sniff a neighbor dog's butt
2. Jumped to go play with my friend who has been walking her since I broke my foot (she loves my friend so much, she regularly pees herself with wiggle-butt excitement when he comes over)
3. Jumped and headed straight for the dog park, and was sitting at the entrance when I finally caught up with her.

No vaccs? That's not just stupid, that's malicious.

I propose we ban this most vicious of dog breeds nationwide.

ANd what about Akitas, German Shepards, and other breeds. Pit Bulls are they way they are because of the owners. Period.

On average, 77% of dogs pass temperament tests

95% of PIT BULLS pass temperament tests

Think about THAT the next time you want to stereotype them.

Good answer. Do some real research and stop talking when you have no idea what you're talking about. Then there might actually be a use for the points you make.

We rise Akc Boston Terriers and Boxers and our vets have told us that Pit bulls or Chows should never be around children, in fact every vet and dog professional we have met have told us the same thing.
