BTW, the SSA says they will be OUT of money in 30 years, so they better spend it now.

Simple question, was it wrong to send fedgov. employees to a high end resort for a conference in the economic climate of today?

Does it make sense?

It's fine for companies that received TARP money to go flying off to Vegas in private jets?

His point was that the companies that were taking TARP help should have been tightening their belts, not continuing in their old profligate styles, until they paid their money back.

Should fedgov. employees be allowed to go to resorts on our dime?

That's never "fine". But, since they are private companies and the government is supposedly trying to make them profitable again, aren't these toys meant to generate revenue by flying clients. Running a company is extremely stressful, regardless of whether you're bailed out or not.

Being a federal employee isn't a ticket to the "good life". Comrade Commissars were treated similarly in a former empire if I recall correctly, while the general population suffered. Since the federal government never makes any money, why do their employees need to be holed up under such posh conditions?

Some retard excuse would be "the fine resort is helpful to clear the minds of these fine citizens to serve our national interest better, plus it stimulates the economy".

Sofa King, We Todd Did (think about it)

Yes, since they and state employees too are going to do it anyway. Be realistic.

They put the trip out to competitive bidders and Phoenix was the lowest bidder and got the contract.

Why is it ok for gov to take taxpayer money and have a conference but a company cant take tax payer dollars and have a conference.
