If you had actually read and understood the article, you would have known that the shift in strategy involves the White House taking a more active and specific role in moving the legislative process toward conclusion. The public option has widespread support among the people who matter (Republicans have asked not to be included in that group and have been granted their wish) while there is minority opposition. It remains likely that there will be one, and if there is not, what its opponents will have won is a brief stay. If a public option is not in the final bill now, bet the farm that one will be added in the near term. The current model is a poison. It has no future.

If you are going to have buyers remorse after 8 months into a Presidency after what Obama has taken on then you are not very mature.

None of you were kicking and screaming while Bush caused this train wreck for 8 years and you want Obama to fix it in a week...Okie dokie.

No, they are involved in debates of the issues where their own views are sometimes in agreement with the administration's views and sometimes in opposition. If there are one or two who have come to a conclusion that they really should have voted for John McCain, or that it would have been better if we could have had four more years of that George W Bush guy instead, that would be a lot.

You right-wingers are just not accustomed to debate. You mistake disagreement for dissatisfaction. This is because over where you are, some demagogue tells you what to do and you do it. It's all about respect for authority and following orders. The 75% or so of the country that is not you does things quite a bit differently.

How anybody can blame their own ignorance on President Obama is beyond me. The President has been clear and precise regarding his goals for health care reform. He has disseminated clear and precise information. While republicans and other obstructionists have had their tantrums for the summer, congress has been recessed .. in the meantime, the media continues to play for ratings.

The President has already said that a public option in his view is a must to address cost and provide competition to insurance cos.

There is a cure for ignorance ... read, listen~

So you're taking his word for it? I think we've come to realize it doesnt really matter what he says.

I note nobody is on record of saying this (no public option), just un-named "sources', "aides".

But if he does, then Obama is a one-termer, and the Democratic Party will split.

It's that simple.

Some are, mostly Liberals, Progressives (Zogby Poll).

But the GOP is not rebounding in popularity, either.

The strong will of the American people did NOT want the massive Bank/Wall Street bail-out either, but I guess we were okay with that "public option." I guess the "public option" is only BAD when it's for the "people"/the "peeps", you know, the proletariats. It's GOOD when it's for Wall Street and the corporations. You know how they've been doling out money left and right, making loans to people and businesses (since the bail-out). Oh, wait, they're not doing that. They're buying other banks and giving themselves bonuses, etc. Darn, the trickle-down-theory doesn't work again. Somehow, we're always duped to believe that it will.
