The difference is very close to or not at all statistically significant and the IQ for both parties is almost smack dab on 100 -- the "average" for IQ tests. I learned that from your link. FWIW, the most intelligent group reported was white female liberals who kicked the crap out of white male conservatives by your measure.

No,I see the problem.
The problem was that the president thought American children were smart enough to know that he meant for them to send suggestions in to him in order to help.

School age kids see the president as the head of American government and by writing to him they are in essence writing to the man in charge of government.

School children probably do understand this message but that was lost when partisan, ignorant, shrill parents along with their megaphone carrying lying politicians decided to make this into a "socioalist indoctrination speech".

"what can you do to help the president" such a common sense everyday phrase, until it gets in the hands of fanatics and lunatics!

And conservatives are deranged about Obama over a birth certificate, his school records, his preacher, a man who lived on his block, his wife's bare arms, helping GM employees not all lose their jobs, taking action to prevent the banking system collapse (remember no one getting credit?), trying to turn the economy around, and, oh yeah, a speech to inspire kids to do well in school.
This post deserves repeating! All right wingers please read as best as you are able!

Lady Bird Johnson asked Americans to beautify America. She wasn't villified, or called "commie socialist" names. As a matter of fact, she was right. She raised awareness about why we shouldn't pollute our surroundings. Jack Kennedy asked our youth to exercise, and stay healthy.

Meh, apparently the same thing was wrong with Gephard in 91.

"In fact, the House Majority leader at the time, Dick Gephardt (D-Mo.), said "The Department of Education should not be producing paid political advertising for the president, it should be helping us to produce smarter students.""

I can't help but wonder how much racism is behind the conservatives so called concern about Obama's speech urging kids to do well in school. Nothing else makes sense to me.

There is a LOT of racism behind the hysteria.

I haven't noticed any Black parents, Hispanic parents or even Asian parents expressing concern that Obama was going to give an inspirational, start of school year speech.

The hatred that these people have is usually well hidden but since the election of Obama it has boiled to the surface. Racism and bigotry runs very deep within the hearts and souls of some fellow Americans.

Had this been George W Bush, Ronald Reagan, John McCain, Bill Clinton or even Sarah Palin (scary)....many of these "concerned" parents would have NO objection whatsoever.

Yeah I think Gephard was racist in 1991 as well.
