Thats beyond an all time low for a politician. Its one thing to "allow" my children the misconception that Obama = good by not attempting to educate them on the facts, (I allow them to make up their own minds and they are too young to understand why he is wrong), its a completely different story when they are asked to ignore my authority as their parent so they can "help the president" violate the 10th amendment to the Constitution.

The worse part is, you think that asking children for help is rational and that Obama should attack "education", a STATE obligation, and I'll be damned if I have my children listen to someone tell them that its their obligation to help the "President" (regardless as to who they might be) pass bills into law that bankrupt my childrens future..
Give the melo-dramatic act a rest lady, your kids probably aren't even old enough to vote for him come 2012....

Did you see any reports about liberal or Democrat parents crying about it back then, or threatening to keep their kids out of school?
Nice rationalization. People can disagree with Obama and not be racist. Trotting out this old saw as frequently as the left does diminishes it's power. The racism canard is as much as a punchline as anything else now.

The funny thing is the left is getting it's clock cleaned on virtually every issue yet they get up in arms about this. Something which is so silly they expend energy on. It is great, I hope to see more of it. The Republicans will clean up in NJ and Virginia and then set their sights on 2010. Thanks for the help!

I think they're naive and easily deceived/led.

Why don't you move to Central Florida and THEN say that.

What? It is up to the family to teach the kids about politics? So basically just vote how mom and dad want you to vote, don't bother trying to learn anything for yourself and then make a decision?

What a bunch of role models they are.

The left is up in arms about this? What are you talking about? The right is up in arms about it -- or was until they were embarrassed when they read the speech -- and the left was just standing around wondering how they could be so ......ridiculous. We aren't up in arms, we're shaking our heads in disbelief on how the right can be so easily led.

Yet more right wing projecting of their behavior onto the left.

I won't say that America has dumbed down over the years. It is just that the dumbness is showing a lot more, as those exhibiting the traits are crawling out of the rocks they had been living under. It is that "real America" Palin once alluded to.

While honesty was unintentional here, ultimately, this is all about "elections". Nothing to do with what is good for the country and its people. It isn't about trying to unite, but divide and propagate hatred, with sight on elections.
