I recently posted in another thread that I eat meat - beef, poultry etc. I also noted that my wife has fur coats and such.

Another poster proceeded to indicate how "inhumane" I was / am. He noted that they were / are a vegetarian.

My question is - is eating meat and having fur "inhumane" and should it be stopped??

They're both "inhumane" but the only way either will stop is if there's no market for them.

So....

what does "should be stopped" mean?

i believe that ideally people should stop wearing fur and eating meat.

but i don't think it should be forced on people.

i'd be happy if people would just eat meat and dairy sourced from small, local, sustainable producers. but that would necessitate people eating a lot less of those things.

I no longer eat meat, and it really does not bother me that other people do; however, I have a serious issues with factory farming, and I really do wish that meat production was more sustainable. I did not become a vegetarian for animal rights reason, but I happened to see the movie Earthlings after I became one, and honestly I was so horrified by the animal cruelty at the meat production plants in that movie that I had to stop watching about 1/3 of the way through. People have been eating meat forever, but meat production has not always been that disgusting.

Back in the 70's, the Moonies used to use diet (primarily vegetables) as a brainwashing tool .. before them, it was the Vietnamese and the J ap's during WW2.

Food, and the eating of food, is a choice, that people make.

Thick juicy steaks, whole milk, and real creamery butter is the order of the day in my house.

Feeling bad for Bambi, or the beaver used to build your cowboy hat, is something each individual should work out for themselves.

Of course, then, I find most that would be against using animals for food, are usually the ones that think Tuna comes from "a can" ..

My wife loves her fur coats. She loves wearing them. During the winter in Las Vegas, where it gets really cold (and even snows!), out come the coats.

I had a Bomber Jacket, with a mink collar and cuffs made in South Korea made some years ago. I absolutely love it!

I have no problem with eating meat.

I have a big problem with wearing fur. I think killing animals for their fur should be abolished.

Give your wife my apologies.
