If the person is a reasonable conservative, I have no problem with debating and welcome it. On the other hand if the person is a teabagger, birther, truther, flat earther, GW denier, conspiracy theory nut, or extreme right winger, I have zero interest. Done it before, it's a waste of time.

If you really want to engage in a thoughtful discusion here is what I think. I think what Rush said was part of a larger point and what he said was taken out of context. So many people complain that much of todays political discourse is shallow and made of sound bites. No wonder. Whenever a discussion is had involving nuance there is a great opportunity to take things out of context, to slice and dice long soliloquies to make the original meaning unrecognizable. It is much easier to make simpllistic statements with no nuance but cannot be abridged or taken out of context. They also lack depth and seriousness. We will never have serious involved dialouges on any important topics as long as people are willing to engage in the type of thing we have seen here.
All that being said Rush showed poor judgement in addressing the topic at all because he should know that there are people willing, for lack of a better term, to lie to score cheap political points.
In response to a caller who criticized Rush's remarks regarding the catastrophe in Haiti, here is what Rush had to say:
Limbaugh Stands By His Haiti Remarks, Tells Critical Caller She's a 'Bigot' With 'Tampons in Her Ears' | PEEK | AlterNet (http://www.alternet.org/blogs/peek/145187/limbaugh_stands_by_his_haiti_remarks,_tells_critic al_caller_she's_a_'bigot'_with_'tampons_in_her_ear s'/?comments=view&cID=1411315&pID=1411289 - broken link)
I can only wonder; at what point do rational people stop listening to this guy?
These things are funny, Joey, but they didn't come from Ebert and you know it. The very first one is pure liberal talking points and ignores the fact that Rush is no longer fat. They need those talking points but are made liars whenever they see pictures of him today and 5 years ago.
