Why would the Falcons beating the Giants surprise anyone?

The Falcons were 11-2 coming into the game against the Giants. That is tied for best record in the NFL, and yet people were choosing the clearly inferior, both in record and on-field play, Giants to beat the Falcons. The Falcons PUMMELED the Giants.

The national media still shows NO RESPECT for the Falcons. Of the five Fox commentators, only one in five chose the Falcons to beat the Giants.

When is the nonsense about the Falcons not beating quality opponents going to end? If you're honest, we can admit that there are LOTS of sub .500 teams this season and every good team has played most of their schedule against those types of teams. Yet, only the Falcons, and to lesser extent, the Texans, are singled out and chided for not playing quality opponents.

The Falcons have beaten the Giants, Broncos, Redskins, and Cowboys, all of which have winning records and are given more respect.

It was a surprise because the Falcons just lost to a 4-9 Panthers team last week. The Falcons are still a JOKE until they win a game in the playoffs

no offense man if you're a Falcons fan, but Atlanta has built a reputation of not being able to win in the playoffs.

I myself respect the hell out of what Atlanta has done this year. But we'll see what they do in January. I think most talking heads around the league are waiting for January as well.

but no doubt, The Falcons have put together a hech of a regular season, and will enjoy a week off and then homefield advantage.

The big thing here is they beat the Giants but then Giants are known for great games and then real doosies!

Any team can beat any opponent on the right week. Carolina happens to be a divisional rival, much like the Saints, and realizing that they aren't going to the post-season, and realizing that they were up against one of the best teams in the NFL, they played their best football. One of the Panther players referred to last week's game as their "Super Bowl". The Panthers beat San Diego 31-7 today. They've started to turn it around and have won roughly half of their recent games. They're not as bad a team as their record indicates.

That said, the Falcons are 12-2. We certainly destroyed the lowly Eagles, your team.

The Falcons pummeled the Giants, 34-0. According to stats, that's about the worst blowout for a Super Bowl Champion team the following year.

The Falcons have beaten the Broncos, Giants, Redskins, and Cowboys, all teams with winning records.

This team is not like previous years, and definitely with home field advantage, the Falcons will likely march right on into the Super Bowl.

They are having a good season but they will be under a lot pressure to win a game in the playoffs. Remember that they have lost 3 straight playoff games in a row so they have a lot to prove

I would LOVE to see the Washington Redskins in the playoffs this year... Especially as winners of the NFC East! It's been a LONG time! Hail yeah!

I don't care one way or the other about the Redskins, but what a nice job to have to go on the road with a backup rookie QB and win a huge game. What a wildly successful season for the 'Skins by any measure.
