A game that could have gone both ways. Denver had a bad first quarter but straightened up after the half, especially on defense. CJ Stroud is everything the NFL talking heads have been saying.

Wilson's 3 picks were not poor throws--one was tipped at the line, one was a pick that I thought Sutton would have had for an easy 6. The last one was desperation-4 seconds left and 4th down. Their running did ok with 118 yards and the touchdown. Houston just had a bit more than Denver did at the end. Getting off to a poor start off the getgo was basically the difference here.

To have a shot at the wild card, now the Broncos have to win all their games. 11-6 would get them in. 10-7 might, and too many clubs will finish at 9-8. The next two games are at San Diego and at Detroit.

They can use some.
The good news--The Chargers Joey Bosa has been put on injury reserve.
The bad news--The Chargers Khalil Mack has 15 sacks so far this season and the Broncos O-line will have their hands full with him! He has had a heck of a career and IMO he will be in Canton on the first ballot when he calls it a career.

Alfred Williams-on his radio show on KOA yesterday afternoon show said--"Vance Joseph--well, what do you think of him now?"

If there is a stat that can cover their 24-7 victory, it would be third down conversions.
Broncos--8 for 17
Chargers --0 for 12

You have to give backup qb Easton Stick credit for making a gutty performance when Justin Herbert went out of the game. He previously had a grand total of one pass thrown as a back up quarterback. Total Bronco sacks on the qb's were 6 for 68 yards. The secondary played pretty damn well overall, giving up just the one score. Javonte Williams had 17 caries for 66 yards.

Offense wise Wilson kept the ball moving in general, passing for 224 yards, did have one pick. The O-line did their homework, not sure how--but Khahlil Mack had just two tackles for the game.

Good game overall, Denver can't think of other teams losing, they just need to focus on winning and nothing else, the wild card situation in the AFC looks to be crazy with several clubs coming in with 7-6, 8-5 records.

The 1-5 Broncos showed up tonight. The defense looked slow and terrible all night. Goff torched them for 5 TD passes, and the Lions averaged almost 7 yards per carry on the ground. I will be so glad when Russell Wilson is no longer on this roster. He isn't terrible, but he isn't great either. He's so damn short that he can't see over the line. He was a dumb acquisition.

I was most surprised with Detroit's defense. They came to play. The last several games, they did not play well at all.

They played very well, coming into the game they were 13th in the conference regarding fewest points allowed. The points that Denver had were well after the game was settled.

What does my winter coat and the Denver Broncos have in common? They both were taken to the cleaners. OK, bad joke.

Actually, last nights game was another one of those situations of teacher/pupil. Detroit head coach Dan Campbell played his last season for Sean Payton and was on the Saints coaching staff from 2016 to 2020. Sean Payton and staff got out coached by one of his favorite pupils.
