I wasn't aware of that, but it doesn't bother me.

I hope you can find something that you enjoy doing and make a living from it. If its only you and you don't mind living like a bum that is fine, but if you bring children into this world it is your responsibility to take care of them. Everyone would love to be in vacation mode but that is not reality. Grow up

Where did that come from?? Grow up?? I'm 53. I have an assoc. deg in electronics and have already seen positions there with decent wages, and there won't be ANY more kids in my future, lol! The Portland area is a bikers/ hikers paradise from what I've read which is right up my alley.

Get a good recreational life, hobbies, volunteering etc., then you will find your problems aren't so big.

True! I've got so many hobbies now, there's not enough days on the calendar to enjoy them all.

I'm doing both....or planned too. But my passion is Self Sufficiency. I enjoy making my own flour, watching the chickens and making sure they get a varied diet, composting, growing a garden, using rain barrels, etc.

Don't get me wrong, I won't be taking dumps in a bucket with sawdust. Semi self sufficiency is what I'm shooting for. I plan to work part time and use the rest to do what I love

It might not be easy, but I enjoy being self sufficient. If you have no desire to do such things it won't last long though.
