"Work" just means the activity required to produce the desired end.

Who the worker is, and why he is doing the work, determines wether it's a positive or negative experience.

Most workers, regardless of their jobs or what they are paid, are wage slaves and will always be.

I would much rather be a hunter gatherer. Too bad a lot of governments have outlawed that life style.
I HATE going to work, to make money, to buy **** I don't need, to impress people I don't like.
I get nothing from work, not really. I get a little money and most of it goes away as soon as it hits my wallet.
Modern life is a game and I don't know the rules. I don't like playing it. It's senseless, and asinine. We're the only life form on earth that lives this way, and I dare say we're the least happy.

There's no danger, there's no incentive to become a better person. Success and moral ambiguity go hand in hand.

When we lived off the land, if we didn't work, we starved. ALL work benefited us.

As much as I love the internet, technology, and automobiles, I'd be ecstatic if the modern way of life suddenly collapsed and thrust us back into the Paleolithic era.

LOL right on!

The key to not being miserable is finding that balance between work which provides the means to pay for what we REALLY enjoy in life. And it's helpful if our work involves something that interests us, of course!

Both work for me. But then, I'm a conceptual thinker.

You could reduce your expenses and live under your means so that you don't need as much money and can afford to work less.

A healthy, single, childless and frugal person can live well on a small amount of money.

I would say start an internet business, grown your own food and build your own house from scratch. This would eliminate working for others, paying major $$ for food and paying rent or mortgage.

Guy Debord approves of your mindset, OP. As do I, honestly.

Well, people in hell want ice water! Geez, suck it up and do what you need to do.

I don't get off on 50-60 hour work weeks, but I do it to have a decent life for my family.

Do what you need to do to get by in life (legally that is) and then bask in the sun once you've met your obligations.
