Just posted another post on relocating to Raleigh but wanting as much info as possible. We don't make tons of money. But I must say that we like cute little cafe's, nice breakfast spots, local restaurants. CLEAN. We like sushi, and we like it made by Americans. We like clean grocery stores and new gas stations. Does Raleigh have this or is it run down like they say???

All sushi here is made by Armenians. Close enough, right?

IMO, Raleigh is a lot classier than that statement. Just like any area, Denver included, Raleigh is nice in some places, and not-as-nice in others. Overall, it's a beautiful city with a lot to offer in terms of raising a family. It's not as big city as Denver, and certainly doesn't offer the same outdoor amenities, but has many wonderful quaint and CLEAN places to enjoy with beautiful beaches and mountain communities only hours away. I have family on the West Coast (SF Area) and there certainly aren't as many things to do here, but I think Raleigh is a nice place to live with a good local economy. The more "in town" you can live here, the closer you will likely be to what you are looking for, but just a caution that those are the pricier areas of town, and I've noticed that some of that pricing is starting to rival bigger cities, at least for housing.

Good luck on your search. As I'm sure others have, or will, suggest - an exploratory visit is really the best advice and then you'll have the info you need to make such a major life decision.

The Triangle is very ethnically diverse and does offer sushi made by real Japanese people as well as the crap you can buy at the grocery store made by who knows what. There are a lot of international tech firms and medical and bio-medical firms in the area that bring in educated workers from all over the world. Pretty diverse racially and ethnically, though not as many Hispanics as in Denver. Raleigh has a whole lot more African Americans and according to city-data's data it looks like a few more Asians as well.

Raleigh is generally regarded as very family-oriented and clean. It is not stunningly beautiful like Denver. It's pleasant. It is not very gritty. It is very suburban. It is still the South, although it's never been the Deep South.

While the OP's comments smell a bit like five day old unrefrigerated tuna, I'll supply this information on Asian Fusion Restaurants (which, much to my chagrin, are more common than 'authentic' Asian restaurants in the Raleigh area):

Asian Fusion Raleigh, NC

As far as classy vs. trashy, I'll only say that since we moved here last June, we describe the entire area as friendly and beautiful.
