FYI - CAMPO has released a draft of it's 2045 Metropolitan Transportation Plan. You can see it here (and there's a link to make comments on there): DRAFT 2045 Metropolitan Transportation Plan - NC Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization

Among many projects it calls for widening of Creedmoor Rd (NC 50) between Strickland and Glenwood to six lanes. Ain't gonna be easy.

The only time I’m ever driving on Creedmoor is during the day. Is it that congested? And yeah, they were pretty tight on quite a few pieces of property when they did the last widening. I assume bye bye to the median is the only way to make it work.

The main bottleneck seems to be the Creedmoor & Millbrook intersection, at least in my experience driving it during the afternoon rush hour.

The neighborhood associations along Creedmoor fought tooth and nail in the late 1980s to get that planted median. But the outlook for it is poor if the 6-lane project goes ahead... unless the neighborhood fights again.

The US-70 Corridor Commission finally woke up from their beauty sleep and posted the minutes of their September 21 meeting. The minutes of their November meeting still have yet to be posted...

If I would pick I would say 1. The others go through the wetlands and it causes impact. Let's hope they don't do like they did with Wilmington... 1 has the most relocations, but I think it's the best to make that. 1B is a little too far out and I don't really like it that much. 1A is a no-go.

I was driving down to Garner the other day and went through the Fortify area, including the split with 440. Two thoughts:

1) Now that I-87 is signed along that mile or so from the Beltline to the Knightdale Bypass, the left exit from 40 to 87/440 seems more legitimate. I don't know why, but left exits from 2dis to 3dis have always bothered me. Speaking of signage...

2) It would have been nice if the new BGSs had included dedicated space for the 87 signage. The shields on signposts give the road an "afterthought" feel.

That setup is only temporary. There will be new BGS's installed that will include I-87. When those will be put up, I don't know. Signage plans can be seen here:

Goodbye Interstate 495; Hello Interstate 87

The images with signage plans were exactly what I was looking for. Appreciate that.

Looking at the BGSs they have on the plans, it looks like they have enough space to modify/rearrange the lettering and the shields instead of replacing the entire display.
