Thinking that the next thing they will uncover is some history of mental illness. The whole story gives me the creeps.

Agreed.

Good thing they were able to get to him so quickly.

yes it's good to know he only had an hour or two of ammo available to him. 150,000 people live Cary, no way he gets them all in two hours.

There does not appear to be a crime statistic metric that can accurately assess the level of bizarreness of crimes.

If there were, Cary would easily trounce other areas of the Triangle for regularly producing weird crime stories. Maybe Apex second on the list.

What is it about Cary that makes this so?

And an automatic rifle such as this can go through that much within minutes, depending on the magazine used.

Less important than the weapon he possessed is the threat he made... and it looks like he's going to be paying for it.

Cary....the "Florida" of NC.

Actually that's an accurate analogy by several metrics...

I didn't read anything saying this gun was full auto. Or are you just not familiar with firearms?

He only had four mags and reloading is slow but at the range you're not blowing through ammo as fast as possible. If he had four full mags and reloaded them, he could get through 300 rounds pretty quick. 15 minutes or less.

Unless this was full auto high capacity assault artillery with detachable folding stock with bayonet thats belt fed he could get through it in .4 seconds. That's according to CNN.
