I'll let this go, simply because I am not the one who puts my trash out DAYS in advance, is a tax evader, puts trash as far over (and practically in front of someone else's property and it's not mine), etc.

It's like saying it's pure coincidence I at times attract jerks on the Net, ahem.

No, none does exist (that I know of). But I do think most buy into the stereotype that some rusted out RV does bring down property values more than a regular RV, but even an RV in general does. And I think it's safe to say a bunch of rusted out cars will bring down values more than a bunch of beautiful polished BMWs and Jaguars as well. I have no data to support what I say. I still think it's true. HOAs must think so too, or they would not have that rule.

And the last I checked, the street is a public thoroughfare (in most places). Anyone can park anywhere they damn well please. The spot in front of my house is not "my" spot.

You know, you really need to buy about 20 acres, and put your house smack in the middle of it. Then surround yourself with trees, fences and barbed wire. I don't think anything less would keep you happy.

Yes, heaven forbid cars should be where they belong.

Houston, I think we have a problem.

Hahahahahaha ... Why doesn't it surprise me that the motivation for this thread was your stupid feud with your neighbor?? We are such suckers ...

You park them in your neighbor's driveway! LOL Especially if your neighbor is anal retentive, cranky, and paranoid.

So you can find them under all the leaves and dirt that you piled on top of them. Nice hijack, by the way.

You said that you thought parking in the driveway brings down property values. You did not say rusty cars versus Mercedes -- the implication was any car parked there brings down property values.

In general, I stand by that. I am not contradicting myself. I am also going a bit beyond that statement and getting more specific.

What I don't get (unless your car is worth less than the stuff in your garage) is why people park in their driveways.

Annie made an excellent point last night but I was tired and my cursor was going crazy. By making it a point to always park in one's driveway, you're identifying yourself as home or not home, a thief's dream! My neighbors across the street do this and were burglurized, in spite of their ADT sign and dogs! No one knows if I'm ever home or not and I have the sign so I am less likely to be a target I figure.

Would you get it if the person in question didn't have a garage, or is that tacky, too?

Your status bar is really appropriate. Did you come up with that or did someone else?

I suppose if someone doesn't have a garage then my point is moot, hah?

I guess for me I just don't get why you care if someone parks in their driveway or their garage. Really, of all the things in the world to dwell on, this is of zero significance IMO.

Since my home is currently For Sale, I asked my Realtor (of 20+ yrs) about your absurd opinion of cars parked in a driveway or parked in the street.

He laughed.

Let me tell you my story: I went look at an open house couple months ago, and there's a couple cark parked in front of that house, so I made an U-turn and parked my car on another side of the street, then a girl stopped her car next to me and said that I can't park the car there because it's her house. I didn't block the drive way, nor park in front of her house, just on the side of the house (it's on the corner), and I said I just stop for about 10-15 minutes to look at that open house, and she keep saying that's her house, I can't park...
I was pissed off and thought I don't want to buy a house with such a rude and selfish neighbor like her ... she doesn't own the street, why can't people park their car there?
