I don't care for it, I don't care how innocent it is. But I don't make a big deal of it, just ignore it. I'd rather be spoken to, something intelligible.
It's a classless thing to do. Doesn't matter who does it, how good-looking he is, etc. It's just tacky and cheap.
I agree...innocent fun or not, its not cool.
I remember having to walk through a welding dept. everyday, and they would hoop and holler and carry on...it was very embarrassing, for me, and for them. It sounded like a bunch of hound dogs, really.
I was reading a thread concerning how men behave in certain areas. I was wondering, what percentage of women really like when they get whistled at by men.
I personally would never do it because I think it is disrespectful, but that is my personal opinion.
Depends on the guy. If they are attractive, it's ok.
Actually I'm thinking it depends on the woman. Guys like to whistle at girls who always get whistled at and it's highly annoying. Like when I was 20 and always got that kind of attn I hated it. But when I was 49 and got whistled at, I was amused. Why don't you wolves try showing attn to a woman who rarely gets that? They'd actually appreciate it.
OP, your instincts to be a gentleman are good--keep listening to your inner voice.
It's lame and totally disrespectful. Even if the guys attractive I would just think he was a plank and keep walking. if he was ugly I would think he was an ugly plank and start running! Ha. But seriously either way it has happened and it will continue to happen when guys get together and act like children.
I agree with Chowhound. I've never seen a woman turn around complimented. It's like calling your dog. Eurgh funny thing is it is usually the hotter girls that get this "privilege".
I never liked to whistle at girls, and felt odd
around men who did it. It seems rude to me.
